Though Misato is all over social media, as strange as it gets, they still remain undiscovered by most. By and large, they are like an hidden unpolished gem awaiting to be unearthed and appreciated by the treasure hunters. Perhaps it is due to the secluded corner they are located in Centrepoint or it is due primary to the competitive F&B scene at this mall. We tried their food and sincerely think well of them and will return for other dishes that we yet to try.
Facade is concealed by Ollie Kitchen when one approached the Gasro+ section where Misato is suited. For those who know Honolulu, it is on her right.
While browsing through the menu, nothing much caught my attention except the Cha Soba and desserts. I was glad we went ahead to order more.
A side dish, Cheese Korokke ($7.90) was surprisingly light even though it consisted of cheese and is deep-fried.
Cha Soba ($13.80) was amazing. Though light, we could savour the flavours in the dip. The Soba was lightly chewy with the perfect texture.
Seafood Kaminabe Set ($20.80), very much a comfort food for the soul. Best for rainy weather. The soup was intense. Lots of fresh ingredients imported from Japan among the pot.
I am not a fan of Okonomiyaki ($14.90) to begin with. Though it was good, I can’t appreciate this dish. Overall, this item received praises from lots of food bloggers and instagrammers, even my dining partner thought well of it.
I really love the Matcha Zenzai Mochi ($7.80). Surprisingly, this is a hot dessert which is rarely found in Japanese Restaurant in Singapore. Robust Matcha perfectly coupled with lightly sweetened Red Bean and with chewy Mochi was heavenly delicious. I would certainly order it again.
Contrast to our former dessert, Kuzukiri ($8.80) was rather bland and flat. Except for its silky chewy texture with flavour adopted from the brown sugar dip, nothing characteristics.
For drinks, there are both hot and iced selection. For hot, Hot Green Tea ($3) was available. While for iced, Lychee Earl Grey Iced Tea ($5.50).
NAHMJ Verdict
Misato certainly served delicious Japanese food and they paid special attention to the cutlery and utensils too. However, it is a little slow. We would still recommend. Therefore, dine when you have the time to spend.
