Jewel Changi Airport is a food heaven with multi-cuisines including the Mexican Restaurant, Tonito Latin American Kitchen, located next to Putien.

Characteristic of Mexican food are spicy, robust, intense, sourish and these can be experience in the dishes served at Tonito. Begin the meal with Ceviche TONITO ($28). Consisting of Japanese baby scallops, Octopus, Crabmeat and Fried Calamari in Smoked Aji Amarillo Tiger’s Milk with citrus and spicy and the crisp crowned on the dish complemented the ingredients perfectly.

Alternatively, opt for the Mexican Ceviche ($28) with Octopus, Japanese Baby Scallops, Crabmeat, Pico de Gallo, Limes, Guacamole, Crispy Corn Tortilla. Less sourish but spicier than the above. Equally enjoyable.

Fans of Tortilla, can opt of the either the Pork Tacos ($16) and/or Beef Quesadillas ($16). In the former, Crispy Pork Belly and Sausage, Caramelised Onion, Chipotle Mayo Aioli sat on the Soft Corn Tortilla. Diners can opt for other proteins options; fish ($18), beef ($18) and chicken ($16). As for the latter, Marinated Beef, Coriander Aioli, Avocado Puree, Melted Cheddar Cheese wrapped in Crispy Flour Tortilla. Other protein options available are pork belly ($16) and chicken ($16), and a vegetarian option, corn ($12).

Rice which is also a staple in Mexico hence not to be missed is the flavourful, complex flavoured Latino Seafood Rice. Or the Fish Moqueca, similar to the Indian Fish Curry but less spicy.

End the meal with a sweet note; the tropical flavoured Tres Leches. Spongy Coconut Cake with Passion Fruit Compote, Crispy Coconut Flakes on a vanilla sauce.

NAHMJ Verdict

Meal at Tonito Latin America is an unforgettable one as I enjoyed every dishes and you know such a situation is rare.

At the same unit where Mad Mex is now stood a Mexican restaurant. The consolation is that Mexican food lovers around Marina Bay Financial Centre still get food like Burrito and Tacos.

Mad Mex is an Australian chain of fast-food restaurants based in Sydney, Australia that made all their sauce from scratch using only fresh ingredients.

Menu of Mad Mex

On Mad Mex Menu, you will see all the popular Mexican street food such as Tacos, Corn Chips and Burrito.

First is the Taco ($10.90 for 3) with 2 kinds of wrap; corn and soft wrap. Generous amount of filling.

Next is the Burrito ($11.90 – regular / $8.90 – small). If you prefer go for the Naked Burrito ($11.90 – regular / $8.90 – small), that’s without the wrap. The classic ingredient in this item is the black bean which they cooked well. The texture is perfect.

My favourite item is the Quesadilla ($11.50 – regular). The toasted wrap gave a light crispiness and smokiness that elevated the flavours.

Lastly, how could we missed out on desserts. Churros ($5.90) is the sole dessert served. The texture is slightly doughy with a good coat of cinnamon sugar. A pity the chocolate sauce is not thick enough to coat tightly to the stick.

NAHMJ Verdict

The other Mexican Fast Food Chain that I tried is Baja Fresh, but I can’t remember how it compared to Mad Mex. However, I like it that everything is made from scratch at Mad Mex.

Last year, we indulged on the DIY Tortilla Wraps and this round we savour their tasty Taco And Mount-Garita at Crossroad Cafe.

Beside this promotion, Crossroad Cafe at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza brings East-meets-West with a wide menu of signature dishes, premium wines by the glass and draft beers on tap.

Taco And Mount-Garita At Crossroad Cafe

When the boring-looking taco without sides were served, I was skeptical. The plain-looking with char-grilled marking Taco wrap did not send the delicious vibes to my brain.

Relunctantly, I took the first bite and was immediately blown away by how the combination of flavours from the ingredients and the sauce has created. This is especially true for the Beer Battered Cod Fish Taco.

A total of 5 flavours were offered; Coffee & Chermoula Braised Beef Cheeks ($30++), Crab Cake ($30++), Wan Hao Char Siu Pork ($28++) or Beer Battered Cod Fish ($32++). Each serving has 3 Tacos. A pity, you can’t mix and match your choices and there was no side. The average eater can stomach 2.

We tried all except the Crab Cake and my fave is the Beer Battered Cod Fish Taco. It is extremely difficult to pick the winner this round as each has its unique factor which makes it tasty. I suppose it is down to preference and mood as well.

If you love Margarita, time to be at the Crossroad Cafe with like-minded friends to slurp the Mount-garita ($60++). 3 flavours to choose from; Lime, Strawberry and Mango. Each gaint can serve approximately 6 person.

Between the Lime and Strawberry that we tried, we love the latter.

Promotion

Both the Taco And Mount-Garita at Crossroad Cafe are available till 28 February 2019.

The Loco Group is a Mexican restaurant and bar group serves contemporary Mexican food and its quality agave forward tequila curations. They opened three restaurants in the Island, located in custom house and Robertson Quay are named Super Loco which we visited previously, The last one is located in Duxton Hill is called Lucha Loco.  This is my first visit to the Super Loco Custom House.

Elotes (Vegetarian) ($7) is one of the signature dishes. Barbecued corn on the cob, chipotle mayo, cotija cheese, lime and chili. I was told that it is an iconic Mexican street food.  The corn is juicy and sweet, cotja cheese gives another layer of the dimension.

Available at all The Loco Group of Restaurant (Super Loco Customs House, Super Loco Robertson Quay, Lucha Loco)

The Loco Group, A Mexican Food and Craft Beer Paradise - Elotes (Vegetarian) ($7)

Tostada de Atun ($15) Fried corn tortilla with fresh yellowfin tuna tartare, aguachile salsa, avocado, mint, coriander, serrano, radish. It is doused with generous lashings of smoky chipotle sauce, finely-diced shallots, and zesty lime juice, high-grade yellowfin tuna is the star of the Tostada de Atun. I really enjoyed the fiery aguachile salsa. It is so refreshing and complemented by a creamy avocado relish and crunchy radish garnish.

Available at Super Loco Customs House

The Loco Group, A Mexican Food and Craft Beer Paradise - Tostada de Atun ($15)

Taco de Cangrejo ($16) Buttermilk fried soft-shell crab, avocado, habanero slaw and lime

I was told that it is a new dish which is only available in Lucha Loco.  Soft shell crab gets a delectable makeover in Taco de Cangrejo. Enveloped in a crispy buttermilk casing, the crab is accompanied by a punchy habanero slaw, buttery avocado wedges, and fresh pickled onions. The soft shell crab is so fresh, my taste buds are whisked away by its fresh ocean flavors.

Available at Lucha Loco

The one on the left is another new dish Pollo al pastor ($9) Vertical spit-roasted chicken paired with achiote, salsa verde, red cabbage, jalapeño and pineapple salsa

This dish is inspired by Al pastor, a classic taco typically cooked by street vendors in Mexico. Slices of marinated chicken cooked rotisserie-style are topped with a luscious pineapple salsa–the Pollo al pastor. I believe that this rotisserie chicken was done on a charcoal grill for that extra, smoky flavor.

Available at Super Loco Robertson Quay

The Loco Group, A Mexican Food and Craft Beer Paradise - Taco

Almejas ($16), Yucatan-style clams, jalapeño pico de gallo, smoked bacon, guajillo chilli

This signature dish has a strong European influences, it is the perfect combination of fresh clams served with crispy bacon and a hint of spicy guajillo chilli. Bravo!

Available at Super Loco Robertson Quay

The Loco Group, A Mexican Food and Craft Beer Paradise - Almejas ($16)

Huitlacoche Quesadilla ($16)  10” wheat tortilla, corn truffle, oyster mushrooms, sweet corn, cotija, and chimichurri sauce

Huitlacoche is possibly Mexico’s most fascinating ingredient. Like mushrooms, it grows on corn as a fungus yet boasts an earthy, almost truffle-like flavour. In the Huitlacoche Quesadilla, mushrooms, sweetcorn, and huitlacoche are braised, packed in a 10” flour tortilla with cheese, toasted on the plancha and topped with a fresh chimichurri sauce. This Mexican classic has been a mainstay on Lucha Loco’s menu since its inception.

Available at all venues of The Loco Group (Super Loco Customs House, Super Loco Robertson Quay, Lucha Loco)

The Loco Group, A Mexican Food and Craft Beer Paradise - Huitlacoche Quesadilla ($16)

Cordero Al Horno ($70) Tender slow-roasted lamb shoulder marinated in ancho and sherry, served with chargrilled cos, pistachio salsa verde and tortillas.

The sweetness of succulent slow-roasted lamb, combined with savoury ancho chili is a gastronomical marriage made in heaven. It is served with soft tortillas for guests to make their own tacos.

Available at Super Loco Customs House

The Loco Group, A Mexican Food and Craft Beer Paradise - Cordero Al Horno ($70)

Wild Snapper Veracruzana ($28)  Red snapper, clams, tomato, caper, serrano, parsley, toasted seaweed oil.

The Spanish influence on the cuisine of Mexico’s Veracruz region is indubitable. With tomatoes, capers, and wine as a base, the Wild Snapper Veracruzana is infused with chilli and lime to tantalise the senses. However, it seemed that the red snapper was marinated for too long, and it became a bit too salty.

Available at Super Loco Robertson Quay

The Loco Group, A Mexican Food and Craft Beer Paradise - Wild Snapper Veracruzana ($28)

Watermelon Tres Leches ($14) Milk sponge, vanilla milk panna cotta, watermelon, almond, blueberries

The chef managed to transform this classic dessert into something light and refreshing. Fresh watermelon and sweet milk contrast wonderfully against the sharp, tangy bursts of flavour from the blueberries, making the Watermelon Tres Leches a crowd favourite.

Available at Super Loco Customs House

The Loco Group, A Mexican Food and Craft Beer Paradise - Watermelon Tres Leches ($14)

Ice cream sandwich Sweet corn ice cream, almond & honeycomb

This ice-cream sandwich is a delightful mish-mash of sweet corn, almond, and crunchy honeycomb except that the cookies are a bit overwhelming.

Available at Lucha Loco (by end of Oct)

The Loco Group, A Mexican Food and Craft Beer Paradise - Ice cream sandwich

Pesado Pilsner ($13) earthy, robust & balanced.  It is one of the go to session beers in The Loco Group, more full bodied and flavorful than the regular mainstream lager, it packs a mean punch with notes of prickly pear.

The Loco Group, A Mexican Food and Craft Beer Paradise - Pesado Pilsner ($13)

Prickly Pear Margarita is the perfect sweet and sour combo, with just FOUR ingredients – Cimarron blanco, prickly pear, rhubarb bitters and fresh lime, that’s all! Once you give a Prickly Pear Margarita a shot you’re going to love it. Promise.

Only available at Super Loco Customs House

The Loco Group, A Mexican Food and Craft Beer Paradise - Prickly Pear Margarita

NAHMJ Verdict

The Loco Group of restaurants bring you with authentic and contemporary Mexican food with European influences, quality agave Tequila and signature ambiance. It is such a enjoyable place for hanging out with friends and colleagues after work.

New-kid-on-the-block shows off new convivial dining concept on East Coast Road. Comida Mexicana is quietly located at East Coast Road. I was warmly greeted by Vivian, the director who has 21 years of experiences of cooking Mexican food and successfully replicated and created authentic dishes that have received many accolades from diners that include the Mexican community in Singapore.

The decor of Comida Mexicana exudes a vibrant and welcoming ambience of a Mexican home.  With the tables and chairs in red, blue, yellow…and the floor tiles in bright orange, the mix of colors brightens you up immediately and gets you ready to enjoy the equally colorful Mexican food that is to follow.

Appetizers

Chile Con Queso ($16++) – melted Monterey Jack and red cheddar cheeses, and jalapeño. I was amazed by the freshness of the sauces. Vivian told me that the sauces and food are all made from the ingredients imported from Mexico and the USA.

COMIDA MEXICANA Tantalises With Authentic Mexican Flavours At East Coast Road - Chile Con Queso ($16++)

Enrollados ($18++) which comprises chicken, Monterey Jack Cheese, Jalapeno and tomatoes rolled in a wheat tortilla before being coated in an egg wash and fried. Come and enjoy this Mexican style Poh Piah.

COMIDA MEXICANA Tantalises With Authentic Mexican Flavours At East Coast Road - Enrollados ($18++)

Guacamole lovers will adore the Mash Avocado Sopes ($20++), a typical Mexican entrée with a homemade masa (A type of crust used in sopes and other tart-like dishes, it can be made of pastry dough or corn-flour, depending on the recipe) base piled high with refried beans, guacamole, and a lime wedge.

COMIDA MEXICANA Tantalises With Authentic Mexican Flavours At East Coast Road - Mash Avocado Sopes ($20++)

Main

Comida Mexicana frequently surprises guests with its off-the-menu specials created by Vivian, such as Crab & Avocado Quesadillas ($28++). Eat it when it is warm, the melted cheese tasted so good with the other ingredients.

COMIDA MEXICANA Tantalises With Authentic Mexican Flavours At East Coast Road - Crab & Avocado Quesadillas ($28++)

Carnitas ($32++), a Mexican pulled pork dish with tortilla, salsa rojas, salsa verde and guacamole. This rendition features a shredded US pork collar seasoned with cinnamon and other aromatics, then slow-baked in an oven for two and a half hours. Squeeze the roasted orange on the meat for an added zing.

COMIDA MEXICANA Tantalises With Authentic Mexican Flavours At East Coast Road - Carnitas ($32++)

Mexican Yucatan Chicken ($28++) is five chicken skewers coated in an achiote , garlic, orange juice and lemon juice glaze, and presented in a fried tortilla bow filled with salad and cabbage slaw, and four steamed tortilla. Open a tortilla, place a chicken skewer onto the tortilla, remove the skewer. Here you go, you made your own yummy wrap in a second.

COMIDA MEXICANA Tantalises With Authentic Mexican Flavours At East Coast Road - Mexican Yucatan Chicken ($28++)

Dessert

For a substantial dessert, pick the Salted Caramel Pina Colada Bread Pudding ($15++) – brioche soaked in dark rum and cream, studded with chopped pineapples, served a la mode with a scoop of coconut ice cream drizzled with salted caramel sauce, and garnished with toasted coconut shavings.

COMIDA MEXICANA Tantalises With Authentic Mexican Flavours At East Coast Road - Salted Caramel Pina Colada Bread Pudding ($15++)

The Kahbrita ($14++), a Mexican take on the Italian affogato showcases homemade coconut ice cream coated in dark chocolate powder, Kahlua liqueur, and crowned with a shot of espresso for a caffeine kick.

COMIDA MEXICANA Tantalises With Authentic Mexican Flavours At East Coast Road - Kahbrita ($14++)

Drinks

There is a long list of drinks available, but my personal choice is the cucumber-mint margaritas ($18++). It is refreshing and cleanses the palate with each sip.

COMIDA MEXICANA Tantalises With Authentic Mexican Flavours At East Coast Road - cucumber-mint margaritas ($18++)

NAHMJ Verdict

Comida Mexicana brings you with authentic Mexican food. It is a great place to hangout with friends, and even suitable to host private function/ event.

Vatos Urban Tacos is CNN named “Hottest New Restaurant in Seoul” is here at the South Beach. I only managed to pay them a visit only when they are about to celebrate their one year anniversary.

Ambience is causual with a bar-like feel. As such, it is dim. Personally, I always prefer dinning in sufficient lighting if I have a choice.

Vatos Urban Tacos At South Beach - Dinning Area

Vatos Urban Tacos At South Beach - Complimentary Tortilla Chips

We didn’t know that Complimentary Tortilla Chips was offered. A pity it doesn’t come with guacamole. Perfect is there is guacamole as ala carte order though don’t remember spotting it on the menu.

Vatos Urban Tacos At South Beach - Fresh Guacamole & Chips ($11)

Hence, we ordered a Fresh Guacamole & Chips ($11). We love the chunky texture of the guacamole but we dislike the tons of onions in it.

Vatos Urban Tacos At South Beach - Spicy Chicken Quesadillas ($17)

Spicy Chicken Quesadillas ($17) is an item infused with Korean style and this is a recommendation at Vatos. On the tortilla wrap is a layer of baked parmesan cheese. We love this idea; perfect for cheese lovers.

Vatos Urban Tacos At South Beach - Braised Carnitas Taco ($10 for 2)

Diners could order Tacos in 2 or 3. We opted 2 Braised Carnitas Taco ($10). Marinate on the pork was exactly what we enjoy though not the wrap. We find the wrap a little too doughy.

NAHMJ Verdict

We like the concept of infusing Korean influence in the dishes offering a Vatos Urban Tacos interpretaion of Mexican food.

The glass house setting restaurant of Dallas Restaurant & Bar was looking elegant and posh. The tables were with table cloth and tableware were meticulously placed. The centre feature, the bar counter, was certainly eye-catching. With such an interior, we were expecting the food to cost a hole in our pocket, but our concern wasn’t valid. Instead we were astonished by how value for money and affordable the items were.

At Dallas, they offer both Mexican and Australian cuisines.

Bar Snacks

Since Dallas is a bar hence bar snacks are on the menu. They offered a total of 12 items on this category. We tried 2 of them. First the Snapper Fish Tacos ($17 for 3). I don’t usually choose fish when it comes to Tacos, instead usually either pork or beef, since by far no fish tacos proof to be taste worthy. Surprisingly, the ones at Dallas were amazing. Somehow the combination of the lightly batter fish with the pineapple chutney and cheese sauce was the winning combination.

Followed by the Salt And Pepper Calamari ($16). The version at Dallas Restaurant & Bar was chunky with less crispy batter. A pity, I felt that they used frozen squid instead of fresh ones.

Mains

We tried 3 out of the 11 Mains offered. Mains selection was comprehensive. Be it chicken, Mexican, pork, fish, chicken and pasta were found on the menu.

Dallas Restaurant & Bar At Suntec City Sky Garden In Esplanade, Singapore - BBQ Chicken Parm ($24)

Dallas Restaurant & Bar At Suntec City Sky Garden In Esplanade, Singapore - Avocado Chicken Parmigiana ($24)

First were the 2 similiar Chicken dishes; the BBQ Chicken Parm ($24) and Avocado Chicken Parmigiana ($24). Both were with Pan-fried panko crusted chicken breast topped with melted mozzarella served with Dallas fries and Salad greens. The variation was in the ingredients buried under the melted cheese. The former was with avocado and pasta sauce while the latter consists of grilled bacon, smokey BBQ sauce and caramelised onions. We prefer the former as it was tastier; flavour was rich.

Dallas Restaurant & Bar At Suntec City Sky Garden In Esplanade, Singapore - BBQ Barramundi ($30)

BBQ Barramundi ($30) served with shaved fennel, watercress and roasted garlic mayonnaise was the last item from the Mains we tried. A great choice for fish lovers.

Burgers and Sandwiches

In addition to Mains, there were 2 sandwiches and 3 burgers found on Dallas Restaurant & Bar Menu. We went for the tall Southern Burger ($23) consisting of 220g 100% Black Angus beef patty with cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce. We find the beef patty a little dry.

Dallas Restaurant & Bar At Suntec City Sky Garden In Esplanade, Singapore - Southern Burger ($23)

Oh ya, how could I miss to highlight the fries. The Dallas fries is extremely delectable that will leave you wanting for more.

Signature Dishes

We would highly recommend diners to order Dallas Signature Dishes, either the Meat Platter ($70 for 2 / $130 for 4) for sharing or the Prime Rib Steak ($40) for individual dinning.

Dallas Restaurant & Bar At Suntec City Sky Garden In Esplanade, Singapore - Meat Platter for 2 ($70)

On the Meat Platter were braised pork ribs (fiery), Australian lamb cutlets, Prime rib, Rotisserie chicken accompanied with mint jelly, mushroom sauce and black pepper sauce with side of garden salad and roasted vine ripe cherry tomato. We have the platter for 2 which we thought could feed more.

Leaving the best to the last, The Prime Rib Steak ($40) is my must order. On my next visit, I will dive straight into this 15 hours slow roasted beef. It was tender, succulent and certainly mouthwatering, leaving us relishing on it.

Dallas Restaurant & Bar At Suntec City Sky Garden In Esplanade, Singapore - Prime Rib Steak ($40)

Dallas offers 4 sharing platters. For diners who love sharing could choose the Quesadillas Platter ($18 for 4pcs / $32 for 8pcs), Sliders platter ($18 for 3 / $32 for 6), The Dallas Platter ($28 for 2 / $48 for 4) or the Mexican Platter ($50 for 2 / $95 for 4)

Desserts

Our stomach space were filled however there is always room for desserts. Though Dallas Restaurant & Bar offered only 3 simple desserts, it was mouthwatering.

Dallas Restaurant & Bar At Suntec City Sky Garden In Esplanade, Singapore - Keylime Pie ($12)

First was the Keylime Pie ($12). Squeeze the lime over the ultra sour pie for more kick. For the low sourish tolerance diners, try it at your own risk. But we love how it woke us up from our food coma.

Dallas Restaurant & Bar At Suntec City Sky Garden In Esplanade, Singapore - Homemade Apple Pie ($12)

Homemade Apple Pie ($12) was our least favourite. Filling was lightly cinnamon-flavoured, lightly sweet with crunchy apple but pastry was a little dry which can be combated by having it with the ice cream.

Dallas Restaurant & Bar At Suntec City Sky Garden In Esplanade, Singapore - Warm Chocolate Brownie ($12)

Lastly, the Warm Chocolate Brownie ($12), that was a little chewy, won the heart of all diners of the night, singing praises about it. Even the baker at the table gave 10 out of 10 for this humble looking dessert.

Promotion

At Dallas Restaurant & Bar, for the month of October 2016, the luscious Prime Rib Steak is part of the selection in their Set Meals offering. The set menu is available all day and the menu changes monthly. On top of the set meals promotion, free flow of the Prime Rib Steak is available on Saturdays and Sundays, from 12pm to 2pm and 6pm to 10pm.

In addition to the 2 promotions mentioned, one more good news, kids meal for free with every paying adult is available on weekends from 12pm to 8pm. For more promotion, visit Dallas promotion site.

NAHMJ Verdict

Food served at Dallas Restaurant & Bar is not only tasty. We were glad that it was value for money and with an affordable selection at such a classy ambience.

It seems like in 2016 there is a Tex-Mex trend going on strongly. The folks behind Spruce has transformed Spruce @ Phoenix Park to Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill offering quality Tex-Mex food to foodies in Singapore.

Previously, I have been to Spruce, though it was quite some time ago, I vaguely remember the design. It seems to me everything remain very much the same except for the colours. Interiorly, some parts were painted in green, red and white.

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Outdoor

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Interior, around the bar counter

Both outdoor with no air-condition and indoor with air-condition still exist in Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill.

Entrandas

Begin the meal with appetisers or starters is a great way to start the meal. At Coyote, they offered a handful of selection.

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Elote ($15)

A popular Mexican street food, Elote ($15) is a must order. The grilled corn rubbed with mayo, Cotija cheese, chilli pepper to augment the flavours.

At Coyote, they offer the most freshly made Guacamole with a ‘Live’ Guacamole Station. The guacamole is made straight from the dinning table.

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - 'Live' Guacamole Station

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Freshly Prepared Guacamole

Once the pounding of all ingredients are complete, diners are ready to enjoy the guacamole with corn chips.

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Final Presentation

Another must order is the Coyote Nachos ($15) with option of chicken (add $2), shrimp add $3) and beef or pork (add $4).

Coyote Mexican At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Volcano Nachos with Pulled Pork ($19)

Tortillas

Likewise at all Tex-Mex restaurants and no exception at Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill, Tacos are available on the menu. Choice of fillings are Veggie ($15), Chicken $17), Fish or Shrimp ($18). Lastly, are the highly recommended, must order Taco with Pork or Beef ($19).

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Tacos, Veggie ($15), Chicken ($17), Fish or Shrimp ($18), Pork or Beef ($19)

For the adventurous diners, you can opt for the chef special filling of Spicy Crispy Beef Lung or Beef Brisket ($21).

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Beef Lung Taco ($21)

And my favourite dish of the night was the Chicken Chimichanga ($17). Crispy exterior filled with tasty ingredients was the best ever combination.

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Chicken Chimichanga ($17)

Howling Wings

Who doesn’t like wings! The Howling Wings at Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill will certainly please all groups of diners since they offer different level of spiciness. Starting with the tangy Orange & Lime Wings ($16) for the diners who don’t consume any spice.

Moving on to the lightly spice Tequila Wings ($17). These are crispy chicken wings tossed in Coyote’s special tequila sauce. Coming up next is the mild spiciness Jalapeno Wings ($18).

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Howling Wings

If you are looking for more spice, go for the Chipotle Wings ($19) which might leave some diners tearing.

Order at your own risk the Habanero Wings ($24). I was defeated by these wings. Tongues were burning and eyes were tearing.

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Scorpion Wings ($28)

Finally, I wouldn’t even dare to try, Scorpion Wings ($28). These are coyote crispy chicken wings tossed in the world second spiciest chilli, the Scorpion Chilli. You need to sign the waiver form before consuming them.

Platos Principales

Various Mains are also offered on Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill menu. One of the highly recommended Main is the 6-hour slow-cooked beef brisket, Carne Brisket De Res ($35) which we miss this round. I am going back for this dish soon.

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Carnitas De Costilla ($33)

Instead, we tried the soft and tender, melt in the mouth and flavourful Carnitas De Costilla ($33). The baby back ribs was rubbed with abundant spice to ensure tasty ribs before grilling.

Sweet Tooths

Desserts are a must to end the dinners for sweet tooths. Out of the 3 desserts offered, we tried 2.

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Amigo Churros ($14)

When we think of Tex-Mex dessert, we think of churros, as such Amigo Churros ($14). These churros are with generous amount of cinnamon sugar and homemade chocolate sauce that is to die for.

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Coyote Bunuelos ($14)

If you are to order only one dessert at Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill make sure it is the uncommonly sighted Coyote Bunuelos ($14). Lightly fried flour tortillas dusted with cinnamon sugar and drizzled with Mexican Chocolate Sauce. Lastly, topped with Vanilla ice cream to serve.

Alcohol

For those who drink, Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill offers a range for selection, from The Original Magarita ($15) to shots such as Tequila Furnace ($10) or even the Rainbow Colours Shots.

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Shots

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Tequila Furnace ($10)

Or even the Coyorita ($22).

Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill At Phoenix Park, Tanglin, Singapore - Make it a Coyorita ($22)

NAHMJ Verdict

The Tex-Mex food served at Coyote Tex-Mex Bar & Grill was as good as you would expect from Spruce. Though some may find the food pricey, all dishes are made from scratch daily including the sauce. Hence we find that it does justify for the pricing.

Baja Fresh Mexican Grill is a casual dining Mexican restaurant located at the corner of Rendezvous Gallery part of Rendezvous Hotel, facing Bras Basah Road and the Singapore Management University, School of Social Sciences and Economics where Momolato is. Though it has been around for quite some time but I have yet to try. I am glad I did. It was better than I expected.

Nachos and dips
Nachos and dips

Before the start of the main, we were treated with Nachos and various dips. The good thing about Baja Fresh is that you can help yourself to the free flow of dips. My favourite dip has always been Guacamole as together with sour cream create the zesty refreshing taste. My least like among the various dip is the cheese dip as it wasn’t cheesy enough.

Lime Margarita
Lime Margarita

I don’t usually drink but I still wanted to have a sip to savour the taste. The Lime Margarita doesn’t come with a strong bitter Tequila taste, but a good balance of sweet, sour and alcohol that comes across to me as sweet tangy on the palate.

Spicy Chicken Americano Tacos
Spicy Chicken Americano Tacos

The highlight of the dinner was the Spicy Chicken Americano Tacos which was introduced recently. The filling were Lettuce, Shredded Parmesan Cheese, diced tomato with Spicy Chipotle Chicken with rice and beans by the side to be added into the Tacos as an option. A common comment among the group was the spicy was at the right level. For the Chilli monster out there, if you need to spice it up, either make a request while ordering or top it off with the sauces available over the Sauce and Dips counter.

Pork Quesadillas
Pork Quesadillas

Next, the Pork Quesadillas. Quesadillas has always been my favourite. As the skin is crispy and most importantly, there is melted cheese in it. This is a pork version.

Chicken Ultimo Burrito
Chicken Ultimo Burrito

My favourite for the night has to be the Chicken Ultimo Burrito, a burrito baked with sauce and melted cheese, as I like strong flavour food and this certainly fit well into the category. This was humongous and there are nachos by the side as well. The portion is good for 2 -3 persons. They have another version that is without the sauce and cheese.

Tostada Salad
Tostada Salad

The last main for the event was the Tostada Salad. This dish is huge. It is good for sharing of 4 -6 persons. All the ladies in the group hope Baja Fresh could offer individual serving as it is a good option for lunch when one is alone.

Churros
Churros

Before the end of the tasting event, we rounded it up with a sweet magical note as Churros was served. It was a hit among the bloggers. All were so excited at the sight of it. I wish the chocolate sauce could be thicker.

Menu

From their name Baja Fresh, you would have guessed that they might freshly make their food daily and true enough, they lived up to their name. Beside the retail outlet, Baja Fresh does catering too. And Baja Fresh will be having their latest outlet at The Sail in April 2015. Awesome news for those working in the Marina Bay Financial/Shenton area.

Finally, I was at Super Loco, a restaurant serving Mexican Street Food so you could expect to find Tacos, Quesadillas and Tortilla. I went with my Mom and Brother for dinner one weekend since it allowed pets at their Al Fresco seating, this was  fantastic since as we could bring along our family pet, Cookies.

Super Loco - Mango Jarritos Super Loco - Strawberry with Cucumber Slice Non-alcoholic Drink

We started with some drinks and chips with Guacomole and Salsa. I have the Mango Jarritos drink, a Mango soda drink. It was pretty refreshing. The service crew recommended us a Strawberry with Cucumber slice drink and my mom was keen to try. It was filled strawberry flavour and lightly scented cucumber. While my brother has a boring Mango Juice.

Super Loco - Chips with Guacamole & Salsa

We enjoyed the chips very much. Both the Salsa and Guacamole were absolutely awesome.

Super Loco - Etoles Corn

The Etoles Corn was one of the recommended item by the service crew. There was some sauce with some white dusting on the corn. This was in fact the highlight of our dinner. We never know that Corn could be this awesome.

Super Loco - Honey Glazed Pork Ribs

The two other dishes that we ordered were Honey Glazed Pork Ribs and Quesadilas with Chicken. Both were good for sharing

The Honey Glazed Pork Ribs was slightly spicy and the best part was the meat was so tender. It could be removed by just using a fork. My brother didn’t enjoyed this dish as much as my mom and myself as he felt that the pork rib wasn’t as tasty as the sauce. It would be awesome if more of the marinate sauce could get into the ribs and it will definitely be more tasty.

Super Loco - Quesadillas with chicken

Lastly, the Quesadillas. I chose chicken as we have a pork while my mom doesn’t consume beef. This dish is as awesome as the rest.

It was a pity that my brother, very conservative with his food, didn’t enjoy the meal as much as we do. At least my mom did. As for me, I am certain that I will return for other dishes that are on their menu.
