We love Bandung for many reasons, first and foremost are Bandung attractions which we felt are highly worth visiting at least once in a lifetime.

Lake Patenggang is surrounded by greens and tea plantation. In the centre is an island named Sasuka Island. On the island is a Love Stone. For visitors who are interested to venture out, could go for the optional boat ride. But it is at a hefty price tag of IDR 300k. We gave the boat ride a missed.

Instead, walking around Situ Patenggang was our option. The entire place is serene with good amount of sunshine for Vitamin production.

Stop by the only cafe at the entrance for a meal or tea. Shopping option is also available for visitors along a short stretch with some vendors selling mainly local produce and products.

Enjoy the view of the villagers harvesting their catch from the lake.

For photographer fanatic, look for the best spot for a few snap.

Lastly, time for ootd. Take tons of them.

NAHMJ Verdict

The views around Situ Patenggang maybe picturesque but there isn’t much to do. Personally, we felt the admission ticket to be too pricey. In a nutshell, we don’t think it is worth visiting. Unless you feel that since you are there only once and wouldn’t mind paying, otherwise we wouldn’t recommend.

The sculptures are displayed both indoor and outdoor; with gigantic sculptures outdoor. The indoor ones aren’t small too, they are life-size.

Before we arrived NuArt Main Entrance, sculptures are along the way with directional signs indicating the way to the Arts Park.

Finally, at the Main Gate.

When we entered through into the building. Interestingly, we were asked to sign-in. Art pieces were randomly displayed throughout the ground floor.

Though I don’t really understand or appreciate many of the sculpture however, they are looking like on the dark side to me.

He seems to love horse. Throughout the park, both indoor and outdoor, horses in various form are sighted.

Moving to the second floor, there was an external exhibitor and the remaining were white sculptures.

Some of his later work, that are in a different style to his most works.

Some religious looking sculpture. 

Do remember to visit the outdoor too which have a nature theme.

A gorgeous horse with its front and side view.

A beautiful opened heart which is also found outdoor.

A human head sculpture titled Binari.

At times, there might be special Arts exhibition in collaboration with some artist.

There is a cafe, Copper & Brass on the second level serving some coffee and cakes & pastries to the guests who may need to take a rest after or during the visit.

NAHMJ Verdict

As the name suggest, NuArt Sculpture Park, is a place filled with sculpture. Hence it is a great place to visit if you like Sculpture.

One of the reason we choose Warung Koffie Batavia was the crowd in the cafe. Furthermore, it was mainly locals. We thought this might be a good indication of fabulous food served.

Like all restaurants in Jakarta, Warung Koffie Batavia has a smoking section too. Both sofa height and normal dinning tables are offered.

Glancing through the menu, there were mainly Indonesian favourite dishes. I spotted a number of my fave too.

First fave we ordered was the Gado Gado (IDR 45k). It is a pretty healthy dish since it consists of mainly vegetables such as potato, long beans and beancurd plus a sweet appetising peanut sauce. Finally laced with some prawn crackers. We find the peanut sauce too diluted and watery.

The next dish which is also my fave is the Sop Buntut (IDR 99k), Oxtail Soup. The soup is too oily and salty. At the very least, we could still savour the oxtail flavour in the soup. Otherwise, it would be a disaster.

Martabak Premium Nutella (IDR 55k) was our dessert. Serving size was good for one to finish, but it is always good to share. We find the martabak too chewy. Certainly, the nutella sauce was in a generous amount.

Lychee Flavoured Iced Tea (IDR 30k) though with strong scent of (canned) lychee flavour, it was overwhelming sweet.

NAHMJ Verdict

Though Warung Koffie Batavia has a great selection of Indonesian Favourite dishes, we felt there is a need to make changes to the recipe to improve the overall experience.

Most cafe in Indonesia are relatively big, comparing to the ones on our sunny island. The space are divided to few themes offering both indoor and al fresco seating. This is another kid friendly cafe whereby they offer a playground.

Menu was extensive. Somehow I was glad that they offered menu specially only for breakfast. Unlike most cafe in Bandung offered the entire menu with food for other meals served at Breakfast too.

There are almost 20 dishes on the Early Riser Menu. Choices were abundant. We tried the Corned Beef Sandwich (IDR 59.5k). It was quite a decent large portion sandwich.

Next was the Breakfast Rosti (IDR 89.5k). Rosti was with perfect crispy exterior. I like the sunny side-up too. But didn’t enjoy the sausage.

Lastly was a sweet dish, the Bee’s Blueberry Pancake (IDR 49.5k). The pancake was dense and cake-like. With the fruit and greens, it was a pretty plate.

Variety of drinks from coffee, tea, granitas, smoothies, shake, booster, juice and soda. It’s almost like you name it, they have it.

Since it was for breakfast, caffeine is always required to perk me up. Hence, orderin the Cappuccino (IDR 26k) was the wise choice for me. Coffee was decent with low acidity and is nutty.

My other diners companion turned to Honey Lemon Tea (IDR 29.5k) and a Strawberry Juice (IDR 27.5k).

Cookies was cute. It has a smiley face to brighten one’s day.

NAHMJ Verdict

Food was more than decent and was with a great environment to dine in. The best part was the variety of dishes offered.

Situated at level 1, above ground floor, around the food street area. The unit is one of the relatively large restaurant around Gandaria City. Though huge, it was relatively quiet when we visited them.

Started our dinner with Vietnam Sampler (IDR 52k) which feature the Summer Roll, Spring Roll, Meat Skewer and Chicken Wing. Certainly a great way to savour the various offerings at Pho 24.

Since the signature at Pho 24 is the Pho, it is a must try. We opted for Pho All (IDR 60k) where there are beef slices, beefball and brisket. I must say that this is closest to authentic Vietnamese Pho flavour though not entirely yet. It was a comforting bowl of soupy carbo great for rainy weather.

For variety, we tried the Lemongrass, Salt and Pepper Shrimp (IDR 45k). Nothing absolutely Vietnamese but we enjoyed the flavours though it was a little salty.

Es Campur (IDR 30k) was the dessert cum drink that I order. At least, the shaved ice dessert isn’t strong in colouring and artificial flavouring. And I think the combination of the ingredients in there.

While my dinning partner got herself the sourish Tamarind Rosella (IDR 30k).

NAHMJ Verdict

At last, we found a Vietnamese restaurant, Pho 24 Vietnamese Restaurant, serving decent Pho.

As the name suggest, expect to find farm animals such as lamb and chicken. The rest of the place beautiful spots for photos taking.

Do remember to exchange for a cup of milk using the stub of the entrance ticket. Flavours available are Original, Chocolate and Strawberry. Redemption is at the Milk Bottle looking building. One should easily spot the building upon entering Farmhouse Susu Lembang.

The entire space seems to be a Farmhouse on a Swiss Alps setting. The first indicator was the Swiss Chalet architecture looking building.

Swiss National Costume Rental

Interestingly, there is a costume rental shop. The costume resemble the Swiss National Costume if I am correct.

Don on one to be with the ambience and enjoy the mood of being in a country side of Switerzland right at the start of the visit.

Snacks Shops

There is no lack of snacks in Farmhouse Susu Lembang. I was surprised.

There are 2 tibits shop. One offering local snacks, the other some Japanese or what I termed as international snacks.

In addition, there is a cookies shop selling an array of tempting cookies in multiple flavours.

Other Shops

If tibits and snacks doesn’t fufill one appetite, go for something more substantial such as Pastries and Danish.

Weather can getting scorching even at high attitude where the Farmhouse is situated. To hydrate oneself, visitors can find a drink shop.

And for healthier version, opt for fruit juice at Brighton Juice Bar. And yes, the costume rental shop is above this Juice Bar. Stairs leading to the costume is on its right.

Restaurants

I notice 2 restaurants cum cafe or maybe a more appropriate term is bistro. Anyway. The easiest to spot is the Backyard Kitchen offering a variety of Western and Local dishes.

Alternatively is to dine at the cafe.

Souvenir Shop

Visitors might be keen to bring some souvenir home for themselves or family and friends. Abundant of gift shops are found within the ground.

Souvenier T-shirts, farmhouse homeware and etc.

Or even some jam or conserve and soap too.

For kids, the stuff toys might be something they are looking for.

Petting Zoo

Fun part for both kids and adult is definitely at the Petting Zoo. Visitors could find feed such as carrot for the sheep. And feeding time begins.

But beware, the lamb are heavy and they could jump on you as they get excited when seeing food.

There are cute rabbits and chicken too.

The quieter zone where the birds are as they are in the cage, close interaction isn’t quite possible.

OOTD

Lastly, not forgetting to take lots of OOTD. Me too took quite a few too. And here is one.

There will be something for everyone at Farmhouse Susu Lembang. Animal lovers, in particular, will enjoy the petting zoo.

As the name suggested, expect to find a floating market similiar to Thailand. The vendor are selling products from the little boat. The attraction has a water body in the centre with attractions surrounding it. The water body in this attraction is Situ Umar lake initially used for fishing. Somehow, it has become a tourist attraction, the Floating Market Lembang Bandung.

Gaining Admission

Getting to Floating Market Lembang is best by own transport, self drive or rental car with driver. Alternatively, by taxi or Uber. We took taxi to the destination.

At the entrance, we made the purchase of our ticket at IDR 20k per person. Entrance of car or taxi requires an addition of IDR 10k.

Remember to exchange your ticket for a drink when you enter the Floating Market.

At The Floating Market Lembang Bandung

The floating market takes the centre stage at this attraction. It is located opposite the entrance. Simply, walk around the water body and you will soon reach the place.

Visitors get to find many vendors selling a variety of local food. I didn’t exactly count the number of vendors but easily there are over 30 of them. Each is mutually exclusive. I didn’t observe any 2 vendors selling the same stuff.

You need to exchange for coins to made the purchase. A pity, you can exchange the excess coins to cash after you have changed them.

Around the floating market area, there is a hut for some head and neck and foot massage.

Various Restaurant

Alternatively, visitors can choose to dine at the restaurants.

Such as the Rockpool Restaurant, Warung Lotek, Mie & Bakso Lembang which offers mainly local fares.

Souvenir Shops

If you are thinking to get some souvenir, there is a stretch for visitors to conveniently pick up some gifts for love ones.

At Kampung Leuit

There is a mock of village known as Kampung Leuit featuring a Padi Field and displaying of some Indonesian Music Instruments for visitors to hands on.

Taman Kelinci

Over at Taman Kelinci, there are small animals for the kids to play. Additional entrance fee is required to get admittance.

Miniatur Kereta Api

Another fabulous spot in the Floating Market Lembang for kids. It features the trains in miniature version for kids to admire.

There are lots of scenic spots for OOTD.

NAHMJ Verdict

We thought the Floating Market Lembang is a superb attraction for family with kids. And for the adults, it is a great way to try out local food at the Floating Market. And of course tons of ootd too.

Angklung is an Indonesian musical instrument made of bamboo. It requires 7 Angklung each producing a resonant making up an octave in order to perform music. 

Beside being a museum displaying the history and facts of the Angklung. It is a one-stop cultural workshop, performance venue, bamboo handicraft center and bamboo instrument workshop. The highlights at Saung Angklung Udjo is the daily performance at 3pm. 

The performance showcases Sudanese Arts and Culture. The performance was rated highly as must watch on Trip Advisor. There are 3 main parts to the peformance; Wayang, Circumcision Ceremony, Anklung. 

Wayang (Puppet Show)

Beginning with Wayang which in this case is a puppet show. The narrator will introduce the puppet and describe them. There is a evil party and a hero group. 

Circumcision Ceremony

Next, the circumcision ceremony is performed.

Sudanese Dance

Followed by the Sundanese Dance by 2 pretty little girl whose movements were swift and elegant.

More Performance By Kids

Subsequently, more kids took the central stage to perform some songs and sing along session in various languages were conducted.

Professional Performance

Coming up next is a more professional performance of the Angklung. We were told that the Angklung is extremely versatile. It could play a variety of music, except Jazz. And as such, they attempted a semi-Jazz. 

Learning To Play The Angklung

My favourite part of the session is learning to play the Angklung. Each Angklung is a tone. 7 different angklung make up an octave and music is created. 

Joining In The Fun

At the end of the session, audiences were invited to join in the fun with the performers for a group dance. So don’t be shy when invited. 

Souvenir

After the performance or maybe even before, drop by the souvenir shop to pick up some gifts for loves one back home.

NAHMJ Verdict

Don’t expect expect professional performance like the symphony orchestra at Saung Angklung Udjo. However, it is no doubt an entertaining 2 hours with lots of fun.

Despite an Indonesian colleague highly recommended Tokyo Connection, I never plan for it as there are many more exciting option to be explored.

The entire design gave off the modern British interior vibes with both cushy sofa seats and normal dinning tables.

As it is a Japanese restaurant, the offerings on the menu are Ramen, Don and Sushi. Nothing surprising.

Kick-start our dinner with Soft Crab Kaarage (IDR 35k). It was within our expectation.

As it was raining, a bowl of hot piping Ebi Tempura Ramen (IDR 35k) was best for the cold rainy weather. A pity it was full of disappointment. Nothing come close to the authenticity of the true Japanese Ramen. It was very much like a bowl of Instant noodle.

Next the Yaki Udon (IDR 45k) was equally unsatisfying. Taste was flat with only saltiness.

Lastly, the Original Beef Teriyaki (IDR 35k), another disheartening dish. It is very much an Indonesian adapted dish. Tokyo Connection did not use the Japanese short grain rice.

We got 2 hot drinks Ocha Hot (IDR 12k) & Hot Chocolate (IDR 24k).

NAHMJ Verdict

If you are expecting to savour authentic Japanese dishes at Tokyo Connection, you will be disappointed. Nothing come close. It is very much Japanese dishes interpreted in Indonesian culture.
