First post in January 2022 after a very long hiatus from updating my food blog. Recently, I visited Osomatsu Japanese Kitchen & Bar located in a corner of the second floor of KINEX. The space fit 60 seaters with safe distancing measure in place and it is still very spacious. This restaurant is the brain-child of 2 local chefs; Angus Chow and Justin Foo
Highlight of the Menu
At this Japanese restaurant, diners are treated to izakaya-style dishes.
Maguro Tataki Salad ($28)
Maguro Tataki Salad ($28) is served with akami tuna slices with mesclun mix, Japanese seaweed and refreshing wasabi yuzu dressing.
Charcoal Chicken ($16)
Don’t judge the Charcoal Chicken ($16) by its look. It looks ugly and like tar. Once it is in the mouth, it releases its charm, crisp and tasty. Dip a little mayonnaise and to elevate the flavour.
Tsukune
Tsukune is always a crowd pleaser to both adult and children. At Osomatsu, they added chicken soft bone for that extra crunch texture. Personally, I prefer to have it with strong marinate and perhaps more sauce.

Uni Ikura Tart ($22/ pc), probably is the star item of the night for diners who love uni and ikura. There is a hint of smokiness which I suspect you either love it or hate it.
Umeshu Jelly ($10)
Ending the dinner with Umeshu Jelly ($10), extremely refreshing with a good balance of sourish and sweetness to compliment the Ume scent. It is so wise to add goji berries for the added texture and it accentuate the fruitiness as well. I love it.
NAHMJ Verdict
Overall, Osomatsu Japanese Kitchen & Bar executed the dishes well.
