Xin Tekka The Food Hall At Tekka Place - Feast

Xin Tekka The Food Hall At Tekka Place – Little India, Singapore

Xin Tekka is a large food hall flanked between two MRT stations, Little India and Rochor, features comback restaurateurs and well-known brands, making it easy to go. Some well known brands are Pang’s Hakka Noodle, Casa Bom Vento Express, RW Express, Rong Guang BBQ Seafood and Alhambra Satay. There are a total of 9 stalls offering a range of food.

Alhambra Satay

For those who remember the former Satay Club in Singapore, would have fond memories about Alhambra Satay. Their satay based on Javanese recipes serve satay in Chicken, Beef and Mutton (10 stick satay with rice cake at $9).

They serve an elusive dish, Kentang Ball ($6), deep-fried mashed potato with minced beef in the centre with rich soto ayam.

Casa Bom Vento Express

Chef Lionel serves the Eurasian-Peranakan food with the popular dishes like Tian of Ayam Buah Keluak with Blue Pea Rice ($7.70) and Nonya Dry Laksa ($8.20) on the menu.

Da Boomz Delights

A stall offering Malay dessert and kueh and one of the popular item is the Apam Balik, a Malay version of pancake. The Da Boomz Delights’ Biskopi is a must, though sweet but addictive.

Hosay’s Delicacy

I really love the Signature Mee Pok ($7.20) serve here. The punchy vinegar and chilli make the dish extra tasty. On a rainny day, best turned to the Teochew Special Porridge ($7.20).

Liang Ji

Chef Dominic Neo specialities include Char Kway Teow ($5 – regular, $7 – large) and innovative dishes such as Cheesy Floss Carrot Cake that won Singapore Food Master award and Spicy Hae Bee Hiam Carrot Cake. The other must try is the Hae Bee Hiam Fried Rice ($6-regular, $8-large).

Morning Boss

The only beverage stall run by two second-generation owners serving traditional drinks such as Kopi with Butter ($2), Pearly Honeydew ($2.50), Pearly Bandung ($2.50) and other trendy drinks such as Iced Pearl Milk Tea ($2.80) and Ice Milo Boba ($3).

Pang’s Hakka Noodle

Chef Pang Kok Keong’s award winning Pang’s Hakka Noodles ($7) is served at the stall. This is certainly a dish not to be missed. the Hakka Stuffed Tofu Soup ($4) is also a must try.

Rong Guang BBQ Seafood

For those who frequent Makansutra Gluttons by the Bay previously would remember them serving their tasty Portuguese Sambal Stingray (from $16). They too serve the in-trend Seafood in A Bag ($98.90). In the bag, there are 4 types of seafood – crabs, prawns, clams and scallop with Chilli Crab sauce. You will be glad to know it comes with fried mantous.

RW Express

There is no lack of Indian food in the area but the best is here serving delicious Tandoori Chicken ($10-half) and Mutton Biryani ($8). I love their food.

NAHMJ Verdict

After the first visit, I am determined to go back to Xin Tekka for the mouth-watering dishes – satay, biryani, mee pok, hakka noodles and … I seriously can’t wait.
