Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hotpot At Lor Telok – Raffles Place, Singapore

Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hotpot 同心如意传统铜火锅 has recently arrived at Lor Telok. Prevsiouly in the vicinity, there was Fu Lin Men Dou.

Hotpot has been a growing trend in Singapore with influx of Chinese from China Mainland. With Haidilao starting the trend and we have our share of hotpot too such as Spicy World, Li Xiang Lan, and the fame Beauty In A Pot by Paradise Group.

A restaurant with Zen ambience. I like the lots of free spaces which give the restaurant a calmness feel. If you appreciate the Arts, there are numerous Arts pieces, beginning from the foot of the entrance, to the wall, and even on the floor.

From The Menu of Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hotpot

Like the French who starts their meal with aperitif, we begin the meal with some snacks. Kick-off with the crispy Fried Mint Leaf 黄金薄荷叶 ($8), an item highly recommended by the restaurant. Light minty flavour with the crispy batter make it a good beer grub.

Crowd favourite Shake-shake Crispy Pork 手摇椒盐酥肉 ($10), instead of chicken, they decided to use pork. The flavour was lightly salted with a little numbing flavour as well. Shake well when served. This action is best for doing a boomerang on your social media account.

Next, aromatic BBQ Canadian Oyster with Garlic 碳烤加拿大生蚝 ($32 half dozen). This is a cooked dish. There is an option to be served raw. You need to pre-order this dish; at least 2 days in advance.

Hotpot

With every hotpot, the most important element is the soup base. A repertoire of selection is available. A recommendation from the restaurant is the Stewed Marinated Beef with Spicy Soup 三牛合一香辣汤 ($48) and newly created Golden Chicken Soup 金汤鸡肉火锅($68). For those who loves frog can opt for another soup, which is highly recommended by the restaurant, Golden Frog Soup 金汤蛙蛙锅($68). For the Golden Soup, you can opt for either spicy or non-spicy.

The must order is the thinly sliced Eight-Second Beef (New Zealand) 八秒牛肉 ($24).

If you are adventurous, do order the Beef Tongue 牛舌 ($22) with light chewy texture.

For those who love chewy and spicy food, go for the Spicy Beef Cube 坨坨牛肉 ($16). I would pass this though.

Among all the meat, I love the Premium Chef-sliced Beef Shin (Australia) 天衣无缝. It has the perfect texture in my opinion.

Nutritional Sliced Black Bone Chicken 滋补乌鸡卷 ($20) is a good selection for young and old.

Medley of vegetables and Tofu are available as well. Some rare and unique items are the Vince Tofu 文思豆腐 ($8), Fish Tofu 黄金鱼豆腐($14), Gracilaria 龙须菜($6) and Chinese Lettuce 莴笋 ($8).

Sweet ending with Traditional Ice Jelly 传统红糖冰粉 ($3). The combination of Ice Jelly, raisin, peanut, and hawthorn may sound strange, it taste good due to the combination of sweetish, sourish, nutty and fruitiness.

NAHMJ Verdict

At Tong Xin Ru Yi Traditional Hotpot, it is about enjoying luscious hotpot soup based with premium meat and unique vegetables.
