Forbidden Duck Singapore By 3 Michelin Stars Chef Alvin Leung - Entrance

Forbidden Duck Singapore By 3 Michelin Stars Demon Chef Alvin Leung – Downtown, Singapore

If I am right, Forbidden Duck Singapore 鴨大哥 has taken over half the space previously occupied by Crystal Jade Prestige. The other half is by
Qi – House of Sichuan.

Demon Chef Alvin Leung may not be well-heard of in Singapore, since he is a Hong Kong-based Chef. But for those who are well-versed in Michelin-stared restaurant will know Bo Innovation, a 3-Michelin star restaurant which is owned by the same Chef. He is fame for the molecular gastronomy with his signature molecular xiao long bao.

I tried one of his restaurant, Daimon Gastrolounge, in Shanghai, last year, pretty memorable though nothing particularly shout out. But at Forbidden Duck Singapore, I was impressed.

From Forbidden Duck Singapore Menu

At Forbidden Duck Singapore, beside the signature duck dishes, they boast other contemporary and classic Cantonese dishes.

Dim Sum

Since we were having lunch, Dim Sum is inevitable on table.

This round, we skipped the typical Sui Mai and Har Gao. First is the tasty Steamed Chao Zhou Dumpling 潮州粉果 ($6), a chewy skin glutinous skin wrap encased with fragrant diced turnip, minced meat and herbs. Next is the likely crunchy full of collagen Chicken Feet with Black Bean and Chilli 豉椒鳳爪 ($6) that absorbed the essence of sauce. Finally, the Deep Fried Prawn Dumpling 黃金鮮蝦石榴果 ($8), packed with fresh prawns in a golden crispy and lightly chewy wrap.

Signature Dishes

Not to be missed is the acclaimed roasted duck dishes. Diners can chose Signature Slow Roasted Duck 招牌慢烤原隻燒鴨 or Forbidden Duck 鴨大哥, both available in half or whole duck portion. The last option is the Duck in Two Ways 北京烤鴨二食.

Our choice was the Forbidden Duck 鴨大哥. Sliced duck with both meat and subtle crispy skin with hint of mandarin peel. Eat it neat or wrap it with the condiments provided.

Foie Gras with Iberico Pork in BBQ Sauce 燒汁煎鵝肝伴黑毛豬 ($48) was intense and bold, briny as well. Very wholesome when enjoyed with white rice.

I am not a fan of Tofu dishes but the first bite of Homemade Tofu with Wild Mushroom 三菇燴自家製豆腐 ($18) and I went wow. The tofu was populated with an irresistible aromatic scent.

Nothing unique about the Fried Egg Noodle with Shredded Pork, Chicken and Duck 三絲炒脆麵 ($18), however, it was the balance in flavour that was mesmerizing about this dish.

Do not leave Forbidden Duck Singapore without the Giant Egg Tart 巨人柚子蛋撻 ($6/2pcs). Don’t be fooled by the humble-looking pastry. The surprise is in the base. Yuzu

NAHMJ Verdict

Lunch at Forbidden Duck Singapore was one of the best meal after Madame Fan Singapore. Highly recommend.
