Though I am not a high spice tolerant foodie, I visited Junction 8 outlet to attempt the Spicy Challenge.

Spicy Challenge At Seoul Yummy

Spicy Challenge At Seoul Yummy offered a total of 12 items with 3 levels of spiciness. The same level is not homogeneous among the 12 items. Some of which are not as spicy as others though they may be at level 1 spiciness, for example. I notice that the item with “Fire” as prefix are the crux of fiery spicy offering.

I ordered all my food from the Seoul Spicy Menu at level 1 spiciness.

Between the two stews, I opted for Seafood Jjamppong Stew ($28.90) as I was informed that this is less spicy than the Dak Bokkeum Tang Stew ($26.90). No ground for comparison since I didn’t order the latter. I could tolerate this level well. The spiciness didn’t overwhelm the flavour, I could still savour the seafood and hint of sourness. Buried below the seafood (prawns, squid, mussels and clams) are some Korean Noodle.

I always like fried food, so it is a no brainer for me to choose the Kimchi Dumplings ($7.80) over the Chicken Dumplings with Fire Sauce. Moreover the latter is an extreme spicy item. I enjoyed this level of spicy and with Jjamppong Mayo Sauce, it elevated the flavour. Somehow, anything with mayo taste better.

If you like fried chicken, you can opt for either Fire Chicken Wings ($7.80) or Fire Fried Chikin ($6.80). Be warned, though the fried chicken is tasty, you may start tearing and nose runny. This happened to me.

Even the harmless-looking Fire Japchae ($11.80) has its lethality even at the mildest level 1.

NAHMJ Verdict

This Spicy Challenge at Seoul Yummy is certainly not for the faint-hearted. Go for it only if you are brave.
