Le Compostelle, An Outstanding Restaurant Which Is A Stone Throw From The Grand Place – Lille, France

Le Compostelle is one of the handful of restaurant that I have been returning though the below are the dishes that I had on my first visit. And it is a long overdue post which I kept procrastinating to pen down my thoughts. Nevertheless, I still want to share as this restaurant is on the top of my go-to restaurant list in Lille. If you want to know which other, Monsieur Jean Restaurant is certainly the other. Hopefully, I could come up with my top 5 Lille Restaurants for 2018 to wrapped up the year.

Away in a cobblestone alley, hidden itself away from the crowd, even though it is in the old city centre of Lille where lots of bustling activities are happening.

Le Compostelle, An Outstanding Restaurant Which Is A Stone Throw From The Grand Place - Ciabatta

The restaurant has 2 different section with entirely different theme. First section looks raw with red brick walls while the inner section reflects futurism. A contrast of past and future, it seems.

Le Compostelle, An Outstanding Restaurant Which Is A Stone Throw From The Grand Place - Amuse Bouche

This is yet another restaurant that serve Amuse Bouche. I don’t quite remember the item, all I can recall was, delicious, a good start.

Le Compostelle, An Outstanding Restaurant Which Is A Stone Throw From The Grand Place - Flaky pastry parcel with pigeon fillet, balsamic and caramelised onions, beetroot (€13)

Subsequently was Flaky pastry parcel with pigeon fillet, balsamic and caramelised onions, beetroot (€13) as a starter. I am a sucker for pigeon, therefore, don’t be surprise that I rated this highly.

Grilled ribeye veal steak, ‘Bagna Canda’ sauce, Parisian-fried potatoes and rocket (€26) was one of the Main we ordered. In winter, the meat seems extremely tough, flavourful though. I would avoid meat in this season.

Le Compostelle, An Outstanding Restaurant Which Is A Stone Throw From The Grand Place - Pan-fried scallops, porcini mushroom risotto, cream suace, hazelnut crisp (€27)

Pan-fried scallops, porcini mushroom risotto, cream suace, hazelnut crisp (€27) was a better choice. Unless, you doesn’t enjoy creamy dish.

Le Compostelle, An Outstanding Restaurant Which Is A Stone Throw From The Grand Place - Poached Pear, Timut pepper jelly, white chocolate sabayon (€8)

Finally, the Poached Pear, Timut pepper jelly, white chocolate sabayon (€8) was the best pear dessert I ever have. My dinning partner and I were still reminiscing about this item.

NAHMJ Verdict

No doubt, I would recommend Le Compostelle to all who yearns a guaranteed good meal.
