Aloha Poke New Menu Offerings For Lunch and After Hours Makes Big Waves – Telok Ayer, Singapore

Aloha Poke, the first, largest and fastest growing Hawaiian poke concept in Singapore.  The first Aloha Poke outlet located along Amoy Street has undergone a vibrant makeover. It is converted into a Hawaiian Tiki Bar! The outlet opens till late, so diners can stop by for a beer with some snacks, or even have the pokes as a quick dinner and healthy pick-me-up after working out at gym or studio nearby. And now, Aloha Poke New Menu was launched

Aloha Poke New Menu

The Hawaiian Kebabs ($10 for chicken, $15 for beef) – chicken or beef, come in a pair and each skewer features the meat, onions, pineapple, green and red peppers covered in a secret recipe barbeque sauce and grilled to a light char. The beef is tender with chewy texture. It goes well with the Kona Craft Beer.

Stuffed Potato Skins ($12) – it smells heavenly! It is filled with diced chicken, oyster mushrooms and sautéed in a homemade teriyaki glaze before it is smothered in mozzarella and grilled to gooey perfection to get that succulent texture.

Poke Pie Tee ($9) is an ingenious way to enjoy poke as a snack as each cup is layered from the bottom up with crunchy jelly fish, poke, pineapple, ikura and sprinkling of chopped spring onions. The Pie Tee shell is thin and crispy. It reminds me the popular Peranakan dish.

From 1 Oct 2018, in celebration of its third anniversary, Aloha Poke New Menu featuring Five New Premium add-ons, Three New Standard add-ons, Three New Cooked Poke picks, Three New Signature Poke Bowls and a carb-free Cauliflower Rice base.

This Salmon and Tuna Poke Bowl featuring new premium add-ons, Jelly Fish for a tasty crunch, Roasted Bell Peppers for a hint of smoky sweetness, Sundried Tomatoes add tangy kick, crispy and fragrant Japanese Garlic Chips ($1.5 each) and Ikura ($3.5) for a taste of the ocean. New standard add-ons, such as Chuka Wakame (seasoned seaweed) which adds a savoury texture to the poke, Nori Seaweed for that umani flavor and sweet and sour Pickled Ginger ($1 each).  These toppings work in harmony with the fresh poke, dressings and sauces complement the products in the bowl, not overshadow it.

Kona Craft Beer is a MUST at the Tiki Bar, there are three bottled variants to choose from – Longboard Large, Big Wave Golden Ale and Hanalai Island Style IPA ($12 per bottle) of which Longboard and Big Wave are also available on tap ($10 per glass). I tried IPA – It is easy to drink, Passionfruit, orange and guava balance the subtle bitterness of aromatic.

This is how the Salmon and Tuna Bowl gets presented in a plate.

Green Giant ($17.90) is a vegetarian poke bowl featuring the New Spiced Cauliflower Rice, Nutty Sesame Tofu, King Mushrooms and Japanese Garlic Chips. It is my favorite on the newly launched menu. I like the smooth texture of the cauliflower rice and the healthy ingredients, it aims to fill without the carb overload. This simple dish will make me to come back again.

NAHMJ Verdict

Just like John Chen, the co-founder of Aloha Poke said, “with three years behind us, Aloha Poke is in tune with what clients are looking for in their perfect Poke Bowl.  The new stellar selection of premium add-ons and signature bowls on Aloha Poke New Menu attracts an even broader customer base especially those seeking a wider taste profile in their poke bowl. ”
