Mui Kee Congee, Famous Hong Kong Congee Here At Shaw Centre – Orchard, Singapore

Mui Kee Congee has descended at Shaw Centre, following the footstep of numerous Hong Kong brand such as Honolulu, Mak’s Noodle and the latest addition is Tsui Wah, hence we get to enjoy Hong Kong food in Singapore without stepping out of the country.

Interestingly, I didn’t try Mui Kee Congee when I was in Hong Kong. Strangely, I didn’t try most of these restaurants when they are in Singapore.

The popularity has yet diminished with queue at Mui Kee Congee still as long as when it started hence I wasn’t very keen to dine here. We decided to dine there as we were having Tea at Tarte By Cheryl Koh. To beat the queue, we went slightly before 6pm on a weekend and there were already about 10 diners ahead of us.

Mui Kee Congee, Famous Hong Kong Congee Here At Shaw Centre - Milk Tea

Since we are at a Hong Kong Restaurant, inevitably, we ordered the Hong Kong Milk Tea 港式奶茶. Though it wasn’t as silky and as concentrated as some of the version I tried in Hong Kong, we were glad that it was lightly saccharine.

Homemade Pork Meatball Congee 生滚秘制肉丸 was the only Congee we ordered. Smooth congee was what we appreciate, my friend find it too watery though I love it this way. The lightly bouncy Homemade Pork Meatball was tasty and complemented the bland congee.

Mui Kee Congee, Famous Hong Kong Congee Here At Shaw Centre - Crispy Dough Fritters 酥脆炸油条

No complimentary Crispy Dough Fritters 酥脆炸油条 for the congee, hence we ordered one serving. Indeed it was crispy but the dough was a little too rough and dense.

We agreed that Mui Kee Congee served better Noodles than Congeee. I would certainly come back for the Beef Brisket Noodle 牛腩.

Mui Kee Congee, Famous Hong Kong Congee Here At Shaw Centre - Fried Dace Fish Cake 香煎鯪鱼饼

Fried Dace Fish Cake 香煎鯪鱼饼 was the other side order we opted to go along with our Mains. The fish cake itself isn’t fantastic, the texture was a little too soft as it was as chewy as we expected. It was the savoury citrusy sauce that augmented the flavour.

NAHMJ Verdict

Mui Kee Congee may be tasty and I am happy to dine there, provided that there only under 10 persons in the queue.
