Dak Bokkeum Tang @ Seoul Yummy Located At Novena Square 2 – Novena, Singapore

Recently we tried a the Dak Bokkeum Tang @ Seoul Yummy. This popular South Korean dish in is a stir-fry chicken spicy stew. With a Korean curry sauce broth base and fresh chicken meat being used, it is a fresh welcome from the Budae Jjigae (army base stew) that is so often the highlight in most Korean restaurants. We previously visited Seoul Yummy @ Ion Orchard and we can’t wait to savour this new dish.

The Dak Bokkeum Tang served by Seoul Yummy comes with 3 levels of spiciness to cater to different palates. I had opted for level 2 where the spice kicks in with every mouthful but it lasts for a few seconds each time, allowing me to enjoy the stew thoroughly. For those who are unsure about the spiciness level to select and had mistakenly selected a notch too high, Seoul Yummy offers free-flow top-up of the broth without adding in the spice.

The stew is served with Korean Ramyon by the side. Ingredients in the stew include generous chunks of fresh chicken meat, potatoes, carrots, and onions. As kimchi is not added to the stew, one can really taste the authenticity of the ingredients in the stew.

NAHMJ Verdict

For those who have had more than enough of the kimchi base in most spicy Korean stew, the Dak Bokkeum Tang @ Seoul Yummy provides a relief with its chicken and potatoes base.

The set promotion offered by Seoul Yummy is a bargain considering the bountiful chunks of meat and potatoes in the stew. The serving is more than enough for 2 people and can probably serve up to 4 if more Ramyon is added.

The portions for the appetiser are big but there wasn’t exactly a wow factor to them. It was a pity that the Bingsu machine was down on the day I was at Seoul Yummy and I couldn’t comment on the dessert.
