The Cheese Artisans At Greenwood Avenue Has More Than Cheeses - Cheeses

The Cheese Artisans At Greenwood Avenue Has More Than Cheeses – Bukit Timah, Singapore

Wine specialty shop used to be the trend and now Singapore starts to appreciate cheese. With intensive travelling as hobbies which open up our horizons, we begin to be exposed to more than just Cheddar, Brie and for the more advance, Camembert. We are seeing more cheese specialty shops. One of the amazing addition is The Cheese Artisans settled at Greenwood Avenue. It is a few units away from Claude’s Cafe.

I am a big fan of cheese and we recently got to attend a WGS US cheese event and a treat of French cheese at So France Bistro and Epicerie. This round is even better, we got to sample cheese from around the globe which include Italy and few other Europe countries.

Expect to find a range of soft and hard cheeses from various part of Europe such as France, Italy, Swiss, Germany and also Netherlands. The cheeses are available for both takeaway and dine-in. We were informed that if you like, you could request them to present them on as a platter for takeaway.

If you are like us who do not know the cheeses well, talk to the knowledgable staff and they will be able to provide you some recommendation. Best of all, The Cheese Artisans encourages sampling to ensure that you like the cheese.

The Cheese Artisans At Greenwood Avenue Has More Than Cheeses - Truffles Petit Camembert

We got to indulge in numerous cheeses, both soft and hard. Though I always like soft, after the session, I being to appreciate the hard cheeses too. I am a big fan of all-thins-truffle so naturally the first I tried was the Truffles Petit Camembert. Furthermore, Camembert is one of my favourite cheese. I didn’t fully enjoy this cheese as the truffle fragrance was overwhelming as a result masked the cheese aroma.

Wigmore

Followed by more soft cheese such as the Wigmore and Petit Munster. The former is a UK cheese made with sheep milk with fruity, mild sweet as the flavour note. Latter is a French cheese, historically made by the monks where the name of the cheese was derived. The milk used is unpasteurized and rind-washed. Strong in taste with more savoury and tangy.

Reypenaer VSOP Gouda

Reypenaer VSOP Gouda, an aromatic hard cheese with butterscotch hint made with pasteurized cow milk. Followed by my favourite which has truffle flavour. This is also the top-seller at Cheese Artisan, Truffle Gouda. It is a Netherland hard cheese made from unpasteurized cow milk.
