Verde Kitchen @ Hilton Singapore is another restaurant serving healthier and yet delicious food. We are seeing more and more of such restaurants. Previously, we visited Open Door Policy for its gluten- and dairy-free items and Frunatic for wholesome food.
Located at level 2 of Hilton Singapore, this little corner offers 32 seats. Out of this kitchen, they prepare healthy dishes with gluten-
Starting with the complimentary bread served which is also in line with the restaurant mission. It is gluten-free.
Firstly is the raw option, Salmon Sashimi & Pomelo Salad ($27) which has a slant of the Chinese New Year Yu Sheng. With the added Coriander Leaves, this offered a Thai-style flavour.
Next is a Super Food selection, Super Food Grilled Halloumi ($25). Packed with nutritious goodness in the bowl with ingredients such as Halloumi, Bulgur, Chickpea, Rocket Salad and a nutty Roasted Walnut Dressing.
Low-fat Creamy Broccoli & Kale Soup ($16) was tasty and smooth. As it was as creamy as most cream soup, it isn’t cloying.
If you love meat, a highly favourable option is the Free-range Pulled Pork Burger ($28). It was wise of Chef to add coleslaw on the lightly sweetish BBQ sauce tossed pulled pork between the pillowy soft sunflower seed Brioche to elevate the otherwise one dimension of flavour.
Beside the burger, Organic Basil-crusted Glacier 51 Tooth Fish ($38) is another worthy choice. The basil crust spice up the boring fillet. The sauce augment the taste of the dish.
For Asian selection, Malay-style Organic Lacto Chicken ($32) is a recommended option. It is healthier as it is less “lemak” (fats). Hence, it is no surprise why some diners may not prefer this dish. But for the health conscious who wanted to enjoy Curry, this is something they could turn to.
I usually avoid flourless cake, however I love the Flourless Chocolate Cake ($14) offered at Verde Kitchen. Flourless Cake are usually dry and lost the body of cake however this wasn’t the case. I suspect due to the thin layer of the flourless cake between the moist chocolate mouse which compensated the nature of the cake.
Chia Seed & Caramelized Hazelnut Pudding ($14) and Homemade Gula Melaka Ice Cream ($14) which were equally delicious made good option too. We thought the former is a good breakfast item too.
NAHMJ Verdict
The taste of the wholesome healthier dishes served Verde Kitchen @ Hilton Singapore was better than expected. It is a pity that they don’t serve dinner.
