I have recently reviewed the Singapore Airlines Business Class Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3, SilverKris Lounge. As I was flying back from Paris for the return trip on Singapore Airlines SQ333, I experienced the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport Star Alliance Business Class Lounge.
At the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, Singapore Airlines does not operate their own lounge instead their Business Class and above passengers were invited to the Star Alliance Lounge instead.
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport Star Alliance Business Class Lounge
I have read numerous negative reviews about Paris Charles de Gaulle Aiport Star Alliance Business Class Lounge and was perhaps prepared for the unpleasant experience as such it turned out to be better than expected. I suspect it could due to the situation during my visit to this lounge too.
Getting There
Getting to the Star Alliance Lounge wasn’t too different despite limited signage. Even if present, they were in French. Right after immigration, using the Access Nº1 priority lane, priority passengers will be greeted by Hermes. On the left are the lift to the lounge on level 11.
Upon reaching Level 11, turn left and you should see the Star Alliance signage. From here onward, there are English signage.
Arriving At The Lounge
A flight of stairs led to the lounge. I dislike the design. It inconvenient passengers who have hand luggage.
The Space
The lounge has a low ceiling and space is rather small. Ample of seats was available at the timing of my seats hence it was a consolation that it was filled at almost at its full capacity.
The Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport Star Alliance Business Class Lounge offers a variety of different seats; bar table seat, cushy sofa and also normal dinning table. Adequate electric charging points were strategically placed around the lounge too. I could easily find one.
Wifi was available throughout the lounge too.
Besides the indoor seating area, there is a tiny outdoor space decked with red tables and chairs. Mainly used by the smokers.
Though the business class lounge was decked with warm lighting, in the day, it still looked quite bright and in a good lighting for working. However, when dark falls, it may be a different situation.
Lastly, at every lounge, there is always a monitor showing the departure flight status and information.
Though the Star Alliance Lounge offered shower room, there were only 2. And it was occupied throughout the hour I was at the lounge.
The Buffet
The design of the buffet area looked futuristic. This could be due to the spaceship like buffet table and the bluish lighting effect.
When I started to scrutiny the food, the disposition of the plate were depressing as I was received with empty plates. The circumstances didn’t till the lounge gathered with a lot more passengers. And this situation kept repeating itself. In short, the turn around time of the crew was slow.
2 snacks were offered; the more popular choice was the Lays Potato Chips while Pretzels took a back-seat.
At all lounge, alcoholic drinks are never lacking. Offering both red and white wine and a variety of hard liqueur.
An array of non-alcoholic drinks were available too with coffee, Kusmi Tea, Fruit Juice, Soft drinks and water (still and sparkling).
Small number of cold cuts and cheeses were available.
Scanty salad variety that doesn’t look appetising are on part of the spread. Lastly, they offered 3 hot food equally unattractive. The food selection looked sad.
NAHMJ Verdict
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport Star Alliance Business Class Lounge may not be impressive in terms of design, food and facilities, after all, it did provide the basic necessity.
