I heard a lot of good review and feedback on Seoul Yummy, I decided to give a try on this hot place in town. I went to their outlet located at ION orchard where Putien is also located, the modern, bright and colorful design of the restaurant attracts me to go in to explore their food.
The friendly manger told me that they are famed for their army stew. Seoul Yummy Singapore has recently launched their Chinese New Year menu that offers a modern Korean twist to the conventional and well-loved Chinese New Year dishes.
Wang Wang Yu Sheng 旺旺鱼生 that features homemade kimchi slices, seasoned Korean cucumbers and fresh salmon slices, along with other classic Yu Sheng ingredients. Because of the kimchi slices, it balances the sweetness from the sauces and enhances the taste and surely raises my appetite.
The next dish which we have tried is the Korean Pen Cai Stew 韩式盆菜锅, a luxurious and hearty stew that boasts a variety of premium seafood goodness such as abalone, fish maw, sea cucumber and many more, along with Korean Ginseng chicken. I don’t think I need to describe more about the freshness of the ingredient, the real thing which impressed me is the Ginseng chicken soup. The broth was so fragrant and smooth. I can imagine the long hours that it was slowly cooked in the kitchen.
We ordered Spam Rice Balls – Rice ball with spam cubes, seaweed and fish roe with mayonnaise as well as Kimchi & Tuna Rice Balls – Rice ball with kimchi, tuna, seaweed and fish roe with mayonnaise. Both are good, the rice were not overcooked and fish roe bring the taste to another level.
Cereal crunch, Korean red bean, rice cakes and almond flakes are on the Crunch Generation Bingsu. I am not a fan of Bingsu but I must say that their red bean topping is not as sweet as other Korean places which made you feel less guilty. Rice cakes are having “popping texture”.
NAHMJ Verdict
If you are looking for a Korean restaurant that provides decent traditional Korean food with modern design environment, Seoul Yummy should be on top of your list.
