Pizza Maru is a Korean Pizza chain has arrived at our shore. Found their first home at the Northpoint City.
They have found the “Brand of the Year” for 7 consecutive years and “Excellent Franchise Award” for 6 years in Korea.
The cheese pull at Pizza Maru is strong. The pull can reach more than a metre.
Pizza Maru offers 2 types of dough for their Pizza; Green Tea Crust and Black Rice Crust. First was the Real BBQ Chicago with Black Rice Dough ($29.80). A very cheesy pizza with extra cheese. Not only on the toppings but on the edge there is extra dose of cheese too.
We tried a Pizza on Green Tea Dough, Premium Pizza, Mango Ocean ($19.80 – 9″ / $23.80 – 12″). It was amazingly delicious. I never find seafood pizza tasty, Pizza Maru surprises me.
Not only does Pizza Maru whipped delish Pizza, the Korean Fried Chicken is equally superb. Supa Hot Gangjeong ($16.80 – 6pcs / $29.80 – 12pcs) for those who can handle spicy really well. Go for this.
Honey Butter Coat ($16.80 – 6pcs / $29.80 – 12pcs) found favour with me. Crispy Savoury fried chicken with hint of sweetness was yummy.
Onion Tartar Korean Fried Chicken ($16.80 – 6pcs / $29.80 – 12pcs) is another item highly recommended. But certainly not my choice as I don’t like onion.
We love the flavourful Bibimbap Tower. Mainly, due to the seaweed. We tried the Spam Tower Bibimbap ($12.80) among the 4 selections. I really love it.
Mocktail option of 5 flavours are available such as Love Land and Cheonjyeon Waterfall ($6.90). However, we find the drinks too sweet for our preference.
Alternatively opt for the Latte ($6.90). We love the light Nok Cha ($6.90). Other available options are Taro, Sweet Potato, Red Velvet and Raspberry Choco.
Since Pizza Maru is a Korean Restaurant, Bingsu existed on their menu. Offering a total of 5 flavours such as Rainbow Paradise Bingsu ($11.90) and Mudcrack Bingsu ($9.90). The Bingsu is lightly sweetened and not as fine as some we had previously.
If you prefer waffle, Pizza Maru offers 2 options of waffle, the Nok Cha Waffle Ice Cream ($11.90) and the Charcoal Waffle Ice Cream ($11.90). To have the best of both world, opt for Combi Waffle Ice Cream ($11.90).
Lastly for the ambience, casual cafe-like. And some of the seating arrangement was with seats back-to-back making it very uncomfortable.
NAHMJ Verdict
Pizza Maru offers a wide range and every item in each category, except dessert, was well executed. There are certainly room for improvement for desserts.
