Carnivores in Hougang, this is a post designated for you. Meat Market is now opened at Hougang 1 offering quality meat grilled over fire using wood differ from month to month.
When we arrived at the restaurant, it was empty and we were hesitant. To our surprise, the crowd stroll in at a steady stream from 8pm onwards.
Before we move on to the highlight which is the grill, you need to take a look at the impressive gorgeous drink. Meat Market offers 3 specialty drinks ($6.90), Elderflower, Rosemary Orange (in the photo) and Coconut Blueberry wasn’t available that day.
I like the popsicle in the Rosemary Orange though taste-wise was a little too sweet for my liking.
Aside the grill meat, there are numerous dishes such as salads, sandwiches, pasta and specials.
Meat Market offers sets and alternatively build your own for the grilled meat.
Starting with the specials, Black Nigiri ($10.90 for 5, $18.90 for 10) topped with either beef or chicken. Meat were torched hence a light smokiness was savoured. Personally, I prefer the beef.
Salted Egg fan could select the Salted Egg Fried Fish Foccacia ($12.90). The sauce isn’t the thick gooey kind with only Yolk, nevertheless, you could savour the true Salted Egg flavour. In this recipe, the Chef uses the white as well. The size of the Deep fried fish was generous. Chunky fries were the accompanied size.
Thai Beef Aglio Pasta ($12.90) was a favourite. A hint of sweetness perfectly coupled with the sourish refreshing grilled pineapple lightly caramelised due to grilling.
Diners can opt for either the set for the grilled with solely seafood and meat or mixture for 2 persons (served with 2 sides and 1 sauce) or for 4 persons (with 4 sides and 2 sauces).
Alternatively, Build Your Own by selecting your favourite base, meat, sides and sauce.
Should you keen on ordering desserts, there are 3 items. First is the French Toast ($8.90); Tau Suan Ice Cream sandwiched between sugar-dusted deep-fried bread. Truly a sugary-indulgence.
Next is the Donut Fries ($6.90) served with Vanilla Ice Cream. These are crispy dough. Lastly is the Grilled Donut which we did not try. Though I have a sweet tooth, these aren’t my kind of dessert.
Finally for the interior, it was casual with a fisherman theme due to the net on the wall. The kitchen is separated by glass hence allowing diners to admire the Chefs at work.
