Yum Cha Christmas Special Dim Sum Treat At Treggannu Street – Chinatown, Singapore

We have been on a festive buffet spree at various hotels such as Mercure Singapore Bugis which has Asian-spin to their Christmas tidings, Park Hotel Alexandra. offers a Spanish-inspired Christmas. For a change we now turned to Yum Cha Chinatown dishing the Yum Cha Christmas Special.

Before unveiling the dishes, we thought this is great for those who want to celebrate Christmas differently this year. At the same token, we also think that the F&B is getting more and more competitive with the Chinese Restaurant having a share in this festive season.

Yum Cha Christmas Special

Beginning with the Christmas Festive Combination ($8.80++) comprises 3 exquisite Dim Sum items specially created for this Christmas season are Five Spice Turkey Roll, Roasted Turkey Bun and Cranberry Spring Roll with Chicken Floss. Among these, I certainly highly recommend the Roasted Turkey Bun ($3.80++ / set of 2), mainly savoury turkey stuffing with lightly toasted outer. Five Spice Turkey Roll ($7.80++ / set of 6 pcs) has a resemblance of Ngoh Huang. Added cranberry jam to create a more Christmasy feel. Lastly, mixed feeling on the Cranberry Spring Roll with Chicken
Floss ($4.80++ / set of 5 rolls). It’s a creative item and I love the floss and cranberry sauce independently. However, when combined, the sweetness was confusing and I don’t know if I like or dislike the overall taste after a few more bites.

Though, we can’t make snowman out of snow in Singapore, Yum Cha has created the Snowman Bao ($3.80++ for 1 pc) for those who missed this icon. The ‘snowman’ consists of 2 bun with different filling (Red bean paste and Chestnut paste).

The familiar Salted Egg Custard Bun *Christmas Exclusive ($4.50++ for set of 3) has pretty Christmas picture printed. No alteration to the taste except the feel.

These items are available daily at the Yum Cha Express kiosk located at Smith Street. Yum Cha took over the space occupied by Tak Poh kiosk. Yum Cha Christmas Special Dim Sum Treat At Treggannu Street - Deep Fried Wasabi Duck Roll ($8.80++ set of 4)

Yum Cha Christmas Special Dim Sum Treat At Treggannu Street - Deep Fried Wasabi Duck Roll filling

First was the Deep Fried Wasabi Duck Roll ($8.80++ set of 4) was an interesting combination. Rest assured that it doesn’t have the choking wasabi taste but strangely, it was sweet within the crispy wrap.

Yum Cha Christmas Special Dim Sum Treat At Treggannu Street - Steamed Cai Xin with Minced Pork and Chinese Sausage ($18++)

Next, the robust Steamed Cai Xin with Minced Pork and Chinese Sausage ($18++) due to the sauce and Chinese Sausage. Overall palate was lightly sweet among Savoury flavour.

Yum Cha Christmas Special Dim Sum Treat At Treggannu Street - Braised Pig Trotter with Vinegar ($9.80++)

Braised Pig Trotter with Vinegar ($9.80++) was a big hit among the diners of the night. A good balance of vinegar and other spices in the braised. Tender meat absorbed the essence and melt in the mouth.

Yum Cha Christmas Special Dim Sum Treat At Treggannu Street - Fragrant Fried Rice with Seafood ($16++)

Round up the meal with some carbohydrates, a wonderful choice is the Fragrant Fried Rice with Seafood ($16++). The unique point of Yum Cha fried rice was the addition of deep fried dried scallop, elevating the flavours. A pity the fried rice lacked of wok hei but compensated by the scallop.
