[Now it is known as Arbora] I am sure most remember or may even have fond memories of Jewel Box which is now known as Spuds & Aprons By Faber Peak Singapore. Beside Spuds & Aprons, at Faber Peak, you can opt for Dining On Cloud 9 (Dining in Cable Car) or Dusk Restaurant & Bar.
Spuds & Aprons offer both indoor and outdoor dining option. To get closer to nature, we opted for outdoor.
Both dining option offers with a view and on a good day, you can catch the gorgeous view of sunset.
At Spuds & Aprons, they boast a good 70% of menu with some sort of Potato items.
First appetite was a good sharing dish, Sweet Potato Fries With Sea Salt & Japanese Curry Mayo ($10). Addictive chunky fragrance Sweet Potato with light crispiness. Dip into the Japanese Curry for a different experience. Personally, I like both the fries and mayo independently. I felt
Chilli Crab in a tux ($14) is a good spin to Singapore Iconic dish, chilli crab. For those who wants to enjoy Chilli Crab hassle-free should go for this item. Crab meat with good punch of spice in light tomato base sat on a bed of crispy Potato Skin was delicious
Tender Oven Roasted Marinated Chicken ($19) was a little too bland and flat for me. I was expecting the sauce to give more dimension of flavours. Despite, my comments, it was a well-received dish.
One of the dish that gain favour from me was the BBQ Baby Back Ribs ($26). Easily separating the well-marinated meat from the bone with only a fork. What I truly enjoyed was the robust BBQ sauce that stick on the meat tightly.
Pasta Vongole ($22) gained numerous fan. Me too, I love it. Truly al dente pasta in aromatic white wine sauce.
Gorgeous Beef Guinness ($28) was yet another amazing dish. The homogenous beef cube was tender and flavourful; absorbed all the essence from the sauce. However, the taste of the mashed can be improved.
Meal is never complete without dessert. A total of 3 desserts to end the meal. First was the star dessert of the night, Jar of Happiness ($11) consisting of happy ingredients such as cookies crumble, berries, salted caramel and topped up with vanilla ice cream. Not mine fave though as I find the dish too vanilla ice cream.
I prefer the Fruit Lava ($12) more. A
Lastly was the Chempedek Bread and Butter Pudding ($12), a creative combination. Though it was good, I won’t order as Chempedek is still a fruit I would avoid.
NAHMJ Verdict
Dining-with-a-view is always expensive however dishes offered at Spuds & Aprons is very affordable, hence we highly recommend especially those who is looking for a change of option or wanted some romantic ambience, here is the place.
