We were at Fumee to try some of their new dishes and the Christmas items.
Fumee By Hanabos launched 2 platters: a meat platter named the Power Plank and the other is a Seafood Platter by this simple name. Platters are always ideal for sharing.
On Power Plank are 5 meat items with Chicken Skewers and Chicken Thigh with a crispy skin.
The only Pork item on the plank is the fork-tender Pork Ribs marinated and seasoned with dry rub.
Lastly, 2 beef items; medium doneness sliced beef steak and beef patties. All the meat were lightly salted hence I find it too bland for my palate. However, the advantage is that you get to savour the natural goodness.
Next is the Seafood Platter with 3 items.
Firstly is the Couscous cooked in Sardinian style. Though it is a tomato dish, I did enjoy since the tomato flavour is extremely light.
Next is the grilled lobster topped with crumbs.
Lastly, the fish I least enjoyed.
Among all the Ala Carte dishes, my favourite is the Blue Cheese Burger, however, to appreciate this burger, you need to love Blue Cheese since aromatic Blue Cheese flavour dominated the burger.
A satisfying Chicken Mac & Cheese, albeit nothing striking. Personally, I think this is very much a safe choice. I would prefer some herb and herb marination on the chicken and may be having it grilled might result in a more interesting dish.
Lastly was the signature dish at Fumee By Hanabos, the Mushroom Risotto. Overall, a good balance.
Santa’s Treat
This Christmas, Fumee By Hanabos curated a 3-course Santa’s Treat. Each course, there were 2 choices.
At the first course, were option of Smoked Salmon Gravlax and Foie Gras Salad. Both were equally good, very much depends on once preference. Though it is a difficult choice to made between the 2, I would pick Foie Gras. The Foie Gras was paired with Fig resulting in a fruitiness combination instead of savoury that I prefer. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed.
For the second course, choose between Chicken Roulade & Silky Mash and Prime Rib with Roasted Butternut & Chestnut. Interestingly, for both the dishes, it was the sides that took the limelight.
Last course has to be dessert. Likewise, 2 selection Christmas Cake or Toffee Pudding. Personally, I would choose the former; rolled cake with butter cream and coffee jelly. I wish for the coffee taste to be stronger. Maybe add some Kuahla to the cake would elevate the taste too. The latter was a little too sweet for my tastebud.
