Annalakshmi Restaurant, Dine With A Cause For Charity At Central Square – Clarke Quay, Singapore

Annalakshmi Restaurant is the culinary section of the Temple of Fine Arts (TFA). They are an artistic an cultural organization dedicated to serving the society through arts, music and dance.  They opened since 8th Mar 1986 at Excelsior Hotel. Their dinning concept incorporate charity whereby all the profit goes to some charitable organisation.

There are two outlets. We visited the one at Central Square, while the second one is at Amoy Street. At Annalakshmi Restaurant, they offer purely vegetarian food in buffet style and pay with a love offering. A bench mark is that they are charing $15.80 per pax for group of 10 and more.

I understand that all the staff at the restaurant are volunteers. From the exterior, the restaurant looks sleazy. The entire glass were covered. One could have a preview of the restaurant.

Upon entering the majestic wooden-craved door, lots of table with ruby table cloth and utensils tidy laid on every table. Lots of Hindu deity and pictured decorate the restaurants giving off the rich Indian cultural vibes.

Buffet table by a wall was served with slightly more than a dozen items. They provide metalware for plates and bowl. First count the number of liquid item and take the appropriate number of bowl and place them on the plate. First is an Indian soup, Mysore Rasam, full of mild spice flavoured, aren’t spicy.

There were 2 curry, first Brinjal Sambar another which I don’t know what curry it was. I prefer the former as it has a stronger aroma. The latter was quite diluted.

Next was a creamy Curd Rice which I find it slime. The flavour was flat, very much like rice mixed with some milk.

Food whipped at Annalakshmi Restaurant are very much like home-cooked food. But since one could enjoy a meal and contribute to charity, why not.
