I have an opportunity to attend a luncheon whereby the host catered an Indian spread buffet, specifically, Gayatri Restaurant Catering Buffet. This is my first attempt of an Indian buffet. I least expected it but it is very much welcomed. The host catered a buffet set of 10 items with mainly meat. The mixed of meat was excellent as there were mutton, chicken and seafood.
Gayatri Restaurant served both Northern and South Indian Cuisine out of their outlet located at Race Course Road. Beside the dine-in restaurant service, they offered catering too.
In the Gayatri Restaurant Catering Buffet Set, the first item lined up was the Nasi Briyani. The rice was rather tasty though aroma of the spice was light.
Followed by Veg Dalcha. A mildly spicy vegetable curry consisting of an unfamilar vegetable though resemble the lady finger, brinjal and can’t remember what else. A thick layer of oil covers the content.
Aloo Gobi with mainly cauliflower
Chicken Masala was tasty however masala sauce was light.
The mutton meat in the Mutton Mysore was fork-tender soft. It wasn’t pleasant chewing the meat.
Prawn Sambal wasn’t as spicy as it looked. I would describe it as mild. However, the prawn wasn’t fresh. The meat were soft, it wasn’t firm like the fresh one should be.
I don’t remember tasting fish in the Fish Cutlet. I thought it was a mashed potato ball.
Payasam is a warm dessert which is very interesting in my view. As like other food
I thought the pickled was a good add since having these intermittent helps to relieve the spiciness.
It is common to spot Papadum, an Indian chip, during Indian meal.
NAHMJ Verdict
Overall, I love the variety offered at this Gayatri Restaurant Catering Buffet Set since it offers different meat cooked in different sauces. In addition, the flavours of the dishes were light, not overwhelmed. I believe for those who doesn’t enjoy spicy might find it more acceptable.
