Mandarin Gallery Presents Singapore Food Trail, Somerset Singapore - Singapore Sling Mocktail (S$8.50++) from The Providore

We began the food trail at The Providore, where we enjoyed a glass of Singapore Sling Mocktail (S$8.50++). Like the original cocktail, this fruity mocktail takes on a pinkish hue and has hints of pineapple and lime. I found this mocktail to be less sweet compared to the cocktail version. Lightly saccharine with a sourish note, this is a refreshing drink to have on a hot afternoon. The slice of decorative dried pineapple also makes a nice accompaniment. If only finely crushed ice is used instead of ice cubes, this will be perfect.

We recommend you to take a seat at The Providore’s alfresco dining area and sip the Singapore Sling mocktail while you watch the crowds go by; just like what a tourist will do.

Mandarin Gallery Presents Singapore Food Trail, Somerset Singapore - Two Way Lobster (S$38++) from Arteastiq

After the drink, we adjourned indoors for our meal. In my opinion, Arteastiq’s Two Way Lobster (S$38++) will make a perfect starter for sharing or a light meal for one. Served with a creamy barley risotto, the lobsters at Arteastiq are cooked in two ways- as Lobster Thermidor and otah stuffed in lobster shell. As I always like variety in my meals, I was really pleased with this dish. Both lobsters were well executed though if I have to nitpick, I did find the Lobster Thermidor (cooked lobster in sauce and topped with cheese) to be a tiny bit on the chewier side. The otah stuffed lobster was faultless with a good balance of spicy, sweet and savory flavors.

Relax and immerse yourself in the arty space while you savor this unique dish.

Mandarin Gallery Presents Singapore Food Trail, Somerset Singapore - Chilli Crab Pasta with Soft Shell Crab (S$38++) from Lawry's The Prime Rib

For a heavier meal option, the Chilli Crab Pasta with Soft Shell Crab (S$38++) from Lawry’s The Prime Rib might make the cut. Here, al dente linguine is tossed in a sweet chilli crab sauce with crab meat chunks and a crispy soft shell crab. I like that both crab meat and soft shell crab are used in this dish but will like the sauce to be spicier. Additionally, I also prefer angel hair to linguine for pasta. According to the Chef, linguine is more suitable for this dish because of the thick sauce used. But, you can request to make the pasta change if you wish.

To compliment your pasta, do also give their Red Jubilee (S$5.20++) drink a try! Apart from its celebratory name, this delicious strawberry and white chocolate drink is made to resemble our Singapore flag with a red upper layer and white bottom layer. To top it off, it is also adorned with a mini Singapore flag, making it an ideal drink to congratulate Singapore on her 52th birthday!

Enjoy the exquisite service in this classy restaurant while you indulge in their beautifully presented food and drink.

Mandarin Gallery Presents Singapore Food Trail, Somerset Singapore - Orient (S$9++) from Antoinette

Lastly, for a sweet ending, visit Antoinette for the Orient (S$9++), an English version of our Chinese Moon Cake. Why do I say that? A traditional moon cake has lotus seed paste, salted egg yolk and in some cases nuts encased in a baked dough; the Orient has a savory salted egg lava cream encased by lotus seed mousse, sitting atop peanut sesame praline and coconut cake. The mix of flavors are pretty similar between the two, causing me to associate one with the other. But, I like the Orient more than traditional moon cake. While some of my fellow diners prefer the salted egg cream to be sweet since this is supposed to be a dessert, I like the Orient the way it is.

If you are a savory salted egg fan, come enjoy a leisure “tai-tai” style afternoon at the Antoinette with this “ang moh” moon cake.
