Provisions is a new concept bar that just opened in Dempsey. I was welcomed by the lively music and the communal setting as I stepped into the bar. Splendid place for a drink and chill out on a Friday night.
The Cocktail bar is not to be missed. I tried the cocktail of the day, Gin infused chrysanthemum and tonic and it was good.
We also tried the beer of the day – Mac’s Great White beer, which was really good.
In my opinion, aside from the cocktails, what makes Provisions different from other bars are the food. The food served are mainly Asian food delights served in claypots and enamel plates. First the mushroom tea in the Claypot Rice smells good. But you need to put in the sambal (given separately) to get a more flavourful taste. The claypot rice is also a bit grainy or harder than usual.
Next the Skewers. I like the sotong the best. It has the salted egg taste which simply complements the dish.
Followed by the juicy beef sirloin.
The rest of skewers are also not bad.
Moving to the Plates – The chicken wing is good. But the mackerel fish cake is a bit more creamy than usual.
Finally Today’s menu was mediocre, but some people might not like the noodear salad as it has a slightly bitter aftertaste.
Other plates consist of the Braised Daikon and Pumpkin which were flavourful and tasty.
Pick up a pack of kachang puteh and as an after-meal snack, and leave any amount of tips you deem appropriate!
Do note that Provisions’ menu are net-priced, inclusive of 7% GST but no service charge. As such, you can show your appreciation and reward the good service provided to the staff by its novel Tip-Bits system.
NAHMJ Verdict
All in all, Provisions is an interesting place to chill out with good drinks paired with asian food.
