Restaurant Fifty is a French restaurant located at the 50th floor of Pullman Hotel Skyway. This French restaurant occupied the entire floor. Hence diners could enjoy the 360º view by walking one round. It is a pity that this restaurant isn’t a revolving one, otherwise, diners could seat comfortably in their seat and enjoy the view while dinning.
The restaurant uses mainly dark tone furniture as such the ambience is a little somber.
I am one who love to dine at a high floor at least once at whichever city I am visiting. I thought view from the top, having to look at the city in another angle, is a great way to admire the city. One of the memorable high floor dinning was in Paris, with view of Eiffel Tower, at Ciel De Paris. During a clear sky day, diners are able to admire the skylines and landscape of Shanghai. I am sure the night view would be gorgeous too.
At the China Restaurant Week 2017 Winner Editons, I was surprised to know that Restaurant Fifty was serving both the Lunch and Dinner Menu during lunch. Personally, I like the idea since they were awarded the best dinner. However, I gave it a missed as I wasn’t in the right mood for a long meal since I need to catch the afternoon flight.
Hence I opted the Lunch Menu consisting of 4-course, priced at RMB 138 per person. Before the start of the meal, bread was served. I was surprised at the number of varieties Restaurant Fifty served.
The first course was Seasonal Salad With Smoked Salmon. Nothing surprising, in fact it was a simple dessert comprises mainly green. Glad that there were some smoked salmon. However I didn’t enjoy the salmon roe, as the seafood pungent aroma existed.
Seasonal Vegetable Soup was basically Pumpkin Soup. I did enjoy their rendition since it was of the savoury version. As they added some nuts, the nuttiness was an excellent complement to the pumpkin. In addition, it provided some texture of crunch.
I didn’t enjoy the Special Sea Urchin Carbonara. Personally, first I find the cream a little far too dense and heavy. In addition, the flavour was flat and bland.
Ended with a captivating note as the Hazelnut Praline 60% Creme Brulee was the best dish for my lunch. The rich nutty hazelnut flavour was the focus, however I find that there is still room for improvement for the creme. It could be smoother.
It is with little wonder why Restaurant Fifty bagged the best dinner award. Having pleasantly pleasing food, at a classy and comfy ambience cum beautiful skyline is certainly the winning combination.
