Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Chef Low Hoe Kiat

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Farrer Park, Singapore (Ended)

The anticipation is over! After three successful rounds of the Battle of the Crabs Buffet followed by the well-received Union of the Crabs and Lobsters Buffet last year, Executive Chef Low Hoe Kiat from Spice Brasserie is back with another exciting crab event! Say hello to the all-new Endless Crabs Party Buffet, happening right now at Spice Brasserie!

Highlights of the Endless Crabs Party Buffet

At this year’s Endless Crabs Party Buffet, Executive Chef Low at Spice Brasserie will bring us many outstanding crab dishes that are set to take our taste buds on an in-CRAB-dible journey!

Let’s Begin the Crab Journey with Something Light

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Rock Salt Baked Crab

Specially prepared for those who enjoy lightly flavored crabs, we have the Rock Salt Baked Crab. Baked with rock salt and ginger, this simple crab dish preserves the natural sweetness of the crab, allowing the crab’s freshness to shine through. If we compare this crab to a lady, it is like she wore only moisturizer and no makeup.

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Steamed Crab at Live Station

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Steamed Crab with Ginger, Spring Onion in Chinese Wine

The Steamed Crab with Ginger, Spring Onion in Chinese Wine is another natural beauty. Steamed in small batches at the live station, I love that it is served piping hot because I like all my food to be hot! Judging from how every batch runs out the moment they are done, I am not the only one who adores it.

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Slow-braised Pumpkin Crab in Claypot

Another crab from the live station, the Slow Braised Pumpkin Crab in Claypot is also not to be missed. In between mouthfuls of its tender slow-braised crab meat, I also enjoyed sipping the creamy and comforting soup-like pumpkin gravy. I really have to commend Chef Low on this dish because he managed to convert me, the non-pumpkin lover into a fan!

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Wok Fried Crab in Wu Jia Pi Wine

Although I am quite used to seeing dishes cooked in Chinese wine, I was pleasantly surprised to see a crab dish cooked in Wu Jia Pi wine instead. Wu Jia Pi wine is a Chinese medicinal wine made from Eleutherococcus bark. Following his own family recipe, Chef Low combines Wu Jia Pi wine with dang gui, ginger and wolf-berries to bring us an unique crab dish- Wok Fried Crab in Wu Jia Pi Wine. Unfortunately, this dish fell short of my expectations as I could only taste salt and a very subtle dang gui flavor in the crab.

Intermezzo

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Salted Egg Crab with Curry Leaves

After relishing the lightly seasoned crabs, I decided to move on to richer flavors and dived into the Salted Egg Crab with Curry Leaves. I feel that this is an excellent dish as the salted egg flavor is perfectly balanced. Even my dining partner who usually dislikes salted egg dishes (she only likes salted egg itself but not salted egg dishes) conceded that this is good!

Time to Spice Up the Crab Journey!

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Stir Fried Crab in Jalapeno

If you can take your spice well, congratulations! By now, I am done teasing our taste buds and am ready to recommend you something more fiery and stimulating! Let’s all give a round of applause to welcome the Stir Fried Crab with Jalapeno and Stir Fried Crab with Asian Spices. Of the two, I find the Jalapeno Crab less spicy and more salty. As I usually dislike food that is too salty, I wasn’t too impressed with this. The addition of fermented black beans in this dish also adds to my dislike. Those among my fellow diners who like strong flavors loved this though.

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Stir Fried Crab in Asian Spices

As I mentioned, Spice Brasserie has another spicy crab up its sleeves- the Stir Fried Crab with Asian Spices! This one totally captivated me! Stir fried with ginger, onion, curry leaves, dried shrimps and chili padi, this crab dish is really spicy and just short of reaching ma la. While the spiciness is not numbing, you will need to douse the fire with drinks! For me, it is a must try! But I will advise you to try this later rather than earlier as you may not be able to enjoy the lighter flavored dishes after this.

Ending the Crab Journey With Classics!

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Bee Hoon Crab

By this point, if you are still up for more crabs and need some carbohydrates to balance your meal, the Bee Hoon Crab will be a good choice. While it may look lackluster, this “back- by-popular-demand” classic dish has its charms. I particularly enjoyed the umami and wok hei in the rice vermicelli.

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Chili Crab

Just in case some of you are wondering if there is any Chili Crab at the crab feast, there is! However, its best friend fried mantou was nowhere to be seen. Because of this, I didn’t bother to try their chili crab. For me, chili crab must be eaten with fried mantou!

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Flame Grilled Mentaiko Lobster

Spice Brasserie’s Endless Crabs Party Dinner Buffet At Parkroyal On Kitchener – Lobster Redeemption Card

As an added bonus, Spice Brasserie also includes one serving of their popular Flame Grilled Mentaiko Lobster (one per diner) in the buffet. So don’t forget to redeem yours before you leave! Although I was already stuffed after eating many kilograms of crabs, I still found stomach space for this delicious half lobster.
