I visited Seorae Singapore when they first opened last year. It has been a year since my visit and they are still going strong at Plaza Singapura. Whenever I passed by, especially during weekend, I still see a queue. It certainly has its charm to attract. This round, I re-visited them for the items on Seorae Singapore New Menu.
Seorae Singapore New Menu
There are a number of new dishes in the Seorae Singapore New Menu. First, 2 stew were introduced; the Pork Ribs Gamjatang ($15.90) and Ttukbaegi Bulgogi ($15.90). A pity we skipped them and went for some sets since we have a big group.
Cheese Mandu Tteokbokki + Three BBQ Meats
Cheese Mandu Tteokbokki, 3 BBQ meats and free flow of Barley Tea ($69++). 4 choices of BBQ meat to choose from; Samgyeobsal (Original Pork Belly), Yangnyeom Mokksal (Marinated Pork Collar), Woosamgyeob (US Beef Shortplate) and Spicy Dakgalbi (Overnight marinated chicken thigh with spicy suace).
The Cheese Mandu Tteokbokki was a little too sweet for my liking. Though I don’t tolerate my spice well, I dont’ find it spicy. It was dominated with sweetness and I couldn’t savour the cheese. But I do like the chewy tteokbokki. As for the Cheese Mandu, I couldn’t appreciate.
Our choice of 3 BBQ meat were Samgyeobsal , Woosamgyeob and Spicy Dakgalbi. As Seorae is well known for their BBQ meat, I love them all.
Budae Jjigae + Two BBQ Meats
Alternatively, diners could opt for the Budae Jjigae ($35.90 ala carte) and 2 BBQ Meats set ($59++). This set comes with free Barley Tea as well. The choices of meat are similar to the above set.
Budae Jjigae isn’t the best Army Stew I ever had in Singapore. As I find this less fiery and spicy, it would be more suitable for most diners who can’t hold their spiciness well.
Kkochi Platter
Another new item on Seorae Singapore new menu is the Kkochi Platter. Basically, they are skewers platter. Diners have a choice of either ala carte or set. There are 7 types of skewer offered. The platter set available are Samgyeobsal Kkohci Platter, Woosamgyeob Kkochi Platter and Mix Kkochi Platter which was what we tried.
In the Mix Kkochi Platter, there are Spicy Enoki Samgyeobsal, Kimichi Samgyeobsal, Cheese Woosamgyeob, Enoki Woosamgyeob and Pyogo Buseot (Mushroom).
Pineapple Cocktail
It is common to order the Watermelon Soju at Korean restaurant. After such a long while, now we are getting new flavour, the Pineapple with Soju, Pineapple Cocktail ($22). As refereshing as the Watermelon Soju. However, I like the pineapple version more. Maybe it was due to the sweet and sourish combination.
NAHMJ Verdict
I am sure the new items on Seorae Singapore New Menu are very much welcome since diners are always looking out for new dishes to try. In addition, this is a good opportunity to expose diners to more choices of Korean cuisine.
