Most would know that Patissez is the originator of Freak Shake or some would love to term it as Over The Top (OTT) Milkshake where it was the trend in 2015 and continued into 2016. My first visit to Patissez Singapore was when they were newly opened in 2016, the purpose was for the Freak Shake.
But now, with the trend die down, food is the focus at Patissez. After slightly less than a year, Patissez decided to revamp their menu. Hence presenting the Patissez Singapore Refreshed Menu.
Interior remains very much the same or the very least, I didn’t notice any change.
Patissez Singapore Refreshed Menu
The keyword here is refreshed, hence most of the items remains the same but they have added new elements to the dishes.
All Day Menu
All Day Breakfast as always is a popular choice, therefore it was included in the Patissez Singapore Refreshed Menu. A total of 8 items were on the menu with 3 new items. Namely, Jamaican Mackerel ($19), Bacon & Fig Croissant ($16) and Hotcakes & Fried Chicken ($15).
We tried only the Hotcakes & Fried Chicken ($15). The hot cake has a dense cake-like texture which seems to be the current trend for hotcakes. I know of food blogger who hated such texture but I have no qualm about it. I was glad that a home-made maple syrup accompanied the hotcakes but unfortunately, there was cinnamon scent which I dislike. The fried chicken was inspired from the Jollibee version. Something unusual about it was a lemon hint was savoured.
Small Plates
On the menu were 7 small plates selection. All except one item was dessert.
Cauliflower ($9) was the recommendation and we went with it even though I usually avoid it. It does change my mind about this vegetable after trying their rendition. The charred Cauliflower was sat on a miso cream and topped with confit leeks and furihake to flavoured up the dish. This combination works perfectly.
On the plate of the Orange-Infused Churros ($9), beside churros, there are vanilla ice cream, mint meringue and berries. I thought the mint meringue was a good add. However, the disappointing factor was we couldn’t savour orange flavour in the Churros. Overall, churros has a crisp exterior and soft interior.
Mains
6 Mains were available which existed in the previous menu. No new item was added. Instead, Patissez Singapore, gave the item a new look and maybe to certain extend, a new recipe. An example was the Steak & Mash ($24) which was previously Steak & Fries.
Among the dishes, Grilled Chicken Breast ($20) was one of the Patissez pride. I avoid Chicken Breast at all cost but since it was highly recommended, I gave it a try. Truly, it was moist and tender, unlike the usual grainy texture but I am still no fan of it. If you are a fan, I would recommend you giving it a try.
Personally, I would go for the other suggestion, Miso Linguine ($19). This is other dish which Patissez Singapore does very well. Linguine remained al dente. Miso complemented the pasta though it was a little dry. I would prefer having it with a little more miso cream.
Freak Shake
Since Patissez is the original creator of the Freak Shake, certainly not to be missed. We got a Fruity Shake and Pretzella, both $14 each.
It was my first time trying out the Fruity Freak. Somehow akin to the smoothie or maybe some would describe it as fruity milk. I still prefer the Pretzella.
NAHMJ Verdict
Though there isn’t much new items on Patissez Singapore Refreshed Menu, the new dimension does add some interesting elements; we enjoyed.
