Ever Naked Bakery was recommended by the same colleague whom recommended me Bianchi & Bella Ciao and Chikalicious. I wasn’t expecting much from them, since this seems like a local run bakery. Nonetheless, I approached it with an open mind.
Space isn’t the big. Estimated dinning area covers approximately half the total area. And it was almost literally half. As one enter, on the left is the counter and bakery studio, while on the right, is the dinning area. Dinning furnitures are in a row by the wall.
Since I got there about 9pm which was an hour before they close. As such shelves were pretty empty with only 4 types of cake left. But immediately, I knew what I wanted. There were Red Velvet, French Chestnut, Watermelon Strawberry and Devil Chocolate Cake.
If your guess was the Watermelon Strawberry Cake 西瓜草莓 (CNY 42) while reading the introduction earlier, yes, you were right. I was lured by the pretty Watermelon Cake. Somehow, I developed a soft spot for it.
This is the second version which I tried. First was the Cream & Custard. Comparatively, this Ever Naked version is sweeter and heavier. I suppose the relatively thick cream cheese contributed to this factor. The sponge cake layer were not disappointing too, it was as soft and fluffy as it should. But relatively denser than most.
Having cake with no drink is dry and boring. I chose Rose Tea (CNY 30) to accompany the Watermelon Cake. When the tea was hot, only the rose scent was prominent. When lukewarm, tangy flavour note starts emitting while rose fragrance take a back seat. The tea base seems like Oolong.
I was recommended to try the Rose with Lichi 玫瑰荔枝 (CNY40) which wasn’t available on the day of my visit. I want return to try it. For now, I will recommend Ever Naked for its Watermelon Strawberry Cake.
