I first visited Carol Mel Cafe when they started operation in 2015. My Carol Mel Cafe Re-visit was more than a year later. In fact, this re-visit was unintentional. It was due to some unforseen circumstances, hence we ended there.
The interior remains untouch. Perhaps some accessories were changed. Minimally, no structural or fixture changes and the original furnitures were still intact.
Carol Mel Cafe Re-visit
Out of the 9 starters, we order only one to share. The lightly sweet salted egg in the Zhi-Char Salted Egg Luncheon Fries ($12) complemented the briny luncheon meat.
Among the 5 pasta offered, Neptune’s White Laksa Pasta ($15) looks the most interesting as it has Local elements, Laksa infused into the dish. The overall taste reminds me of Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee. It was to our liking though nothing close to Laksa.
Next was a very well-received dish, Buttermilk Waffle Cheeze Curry Katsu ($17). We love the fragrance waffle, the fried chicken with melted cheese and the most impressive part of this dish was the Japanese Curry. We were wowed by this humble looking and yet tasty curry.
Lastly the Carol Mel’s Classic Fish And Chips ($17) was typical fish & chips. Fortunately, batter was light.
Creme Brulee was our dessert to end the meal. The custard like was creamy with good vanilla scent, a pity it was as silky as it should have been. Nonetheless, it was still enjoyable.
A series of beverages from Cappuccino to flavoured coffee such as Hazelnut Latte were available. Coffee was full body with low acidity and was mainly nutty.
Alternatively, Matcha Latte which was a little too milky or the various milk such as Caramel Milk or Hazelnut Milk are on the menu too.
There is a Butterfly Pea drink too with Watermelon, Passionfruit or Lemon flavour.
NAHMJ Verdict
Carol Mel Cafe got better with high quality of food and drinks ever since they started. I will return.
