Portico Host At Alexandra, Homely, Cosy Ambience With Tasty Brunch – Labrador, Singapore (Closed)

Portico Host is extremely well hidden. Furthermore, it offers food that isn’t only great for instagram but for the tastebud too. As such, it is truly a hidden gem. If you don’t drive, it isn’t difficult getting to Portico Host, as it is about 5 minutes walk from Labrador MRT station.

The area is like a village of its own. If you know the other 2 restaurants from the Portico Group, Portico Prime and Portico Platos, which are very different from each other. So is Portico Host. I would rate Portico Host some where between her sisters’ restaurant. It has much more of the cafe vibes. Personally, I felt the design homely, equivalent to kitchen, dinning room with a patio.

Previously, Portico Host wasn’t opened on Sunday, but now it does from 11.30am to 5pm.A new brunch menu was recently introduced in conjunction with the Sunday opening hours. Hooray to one more place for Sunday Brunch.

For those who are looking for savoury brunch dishes, one of which is the Host Big Breakfast Pan. In the pan are eggs of your choice (Scrambled, Sunny Side Up, Poached), chicken and pork sausages, bacon, potato, mushroom, salad and toast.

Another great recommendation for those who loves meaty breakfast could opt for is the Wagyu Beef Burger. We were mesmerised by the ultra thick patty at first sight. Can’y wait to devour it. And interestingly, they added peanut butter as a sauce. Surely, not to be missed for peanut butter fan.

The remaining are sweets dishes for breakfast. First, is the Brioche French Thick Toast. Fluffy brioche with eggy layer with the berries compote, finally drizzled with maple syrup. Absolutely tasty!

Portico Host At Alexandra, Homely, Cosy Ambience With Tasty Brunch - Fluffy Hot Cake

Followed by Fluffy Hot Cake. Also accompanied with berries and a slab of mascarpone cheese. What I like about the hot cake was the fluffy and cake like texture.

Portico Host At Alexandra, Homely, Cosy Ambience With Tasty Brunch - Granola

The last Brunch item was my ultimate favourite among the food we tried, the Granola. The yogurt was not only creamy and lightly sweetened but the entire combination, together with the Granola, nuts and seeds, was perfect. Exactly, the way I like to enjoy my yogurt whenever I have craving. But somehow, I could never get the texture of this glass.

Portico Host At Alexandra, Homely, Cosy Ambience With Tasty Brunch - Nyonya Crepes

My least favourite among the dishes we savoured during the brunch was the Nyonya Crepes. Personally, I didn’t enjoy the ultra chewy texture.

NAHMJ Verdict

I felt Portico Host is certainly a great cafe for a Sunday Brunch. Spending time with family and friends over good food and in an outstanding ambience.
