Thai Accent Restaurant At VivoCity - Interior

Thai Accent Restaurant At VivoCity – Harbourfront, Singapore

As far as I remember, Thai Accent is where they are since they started their operation at VivoCity. I have been to Thai Accent numerous time even before their renovation, from a more simple to now a more funky interior.

Thai Restaurants are abundant in Singapore. Alone at VivoCity, there are 2 Thai Restaurants competing. The other being a household brand, well known to most, Thai Express, located at Basement 2 of the mall.

Thai Accent Restaurant At VivoCity - More Interior

Thai Accent offers a multitude of popular Thai dishes from Appetisers to Mains and desserts. As we love variety, we started with Thai Accent Combo ($23.90). In it, there were Crispy Spring Roll, Prawn Wanton, Thai Fish Cake, Chicken Satay; all has 3 pieces. And the Green Papaya Salad. The spring roll and prawn were crispy while the fish cake was chewy. Lastly the chicken satay was tender. In general, the appetisers were tasty.

For fish lovers, there were 3 choices, 2 steamed and 1 deep fried. As we have a healthy conscious diner at the table, we opted for the former and ended up with the  Steamed Seabass with Garlic, Chillies & Lime Sauce ($35.90). We love the sourish and spicy sauce but a pity the fish was over-cooked. The other steamed choice was Steamed Seabass with Soya Sauce & Fresh Ginger ($35.90). If you prefer the deep fried, opt for Deep-fried Golden Garoupa topped with Thai Chilli Sauce.

Thai Accent Restaurant At VivoCity - Stir-fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts & Dried Chillies ($14.90)

The chunky chicken pieces in the Stir-fried Chicken with Cashew Nuts & Dried Chillies ($14.90) were deep fried before it was back to the wok for stir fry. As such, it is no longer crispy, but a little soggy. I thought it would be better without the batter. No doubt I enjoyed the strong flavoured-sauce that has a light sweetness in it.

Thai Accent Restaurant At VivoCity - Stir-fried Kangkong with Shrimp Paste ($11.90)

Our health conscious diner opted for the Stir-fried Kangkong with Shrimp Paste ($11.90) which was a good choice as it was very tasty however the greens were too fibrous. Due to the sauce, one could let down guard and easily grubbed down more rice than needed.

Thai Accent Restaurant At VivoCity - Spicy Tom Yam Mee Hoon Soup with Seafood, Clear ($14.90)

Spicy Tom Yam Mee Hoon Soup with Seafood, Clear ($14.90) was the dish with all thumbs up. It was light and yet flavourful. As it was sourish, certainly appetising.

Thai Accent Restaurant At VivoCity - Red Ruby Waterchesnuts & Jackfruits served with Iced Coconut Milk ($4.90)

Thai Accent Restaurant At VivoCity - Red Ruby Waterchesnuts

We ordered 2 desserts to round up our meal. First was the Red Ruby Waterchesnuts & Jackfruits served with Iced Coconut Milk ($4.90). We love the crunchy red ruby waterchestnut. The jackfruits added sweetness with a nice fragrant. However, unanimously, we agreed that the coconut milk was too diluted.

Thai Accent Restaurant At VivoCity - Steamed Tapioca served with Coconut Milk ($5.90)

Steamed Tapioca served with Coconut Milk ($5.90) was our second dessert. The Tapioca wasn’t as soft as I wish it would be. It was lightly sweet but lacking of the coconut fragrance. Like our first dessert, the coconut milk was diluted.

I would love to try their Mango Sticky Rice too. This will be my to order at the next trip.

NAHMJ Verdict

Food served at Thai Accent Restaurant was generally tasty but somehow I felt that the Thai spice and some key Thai ingredients were sort of lacking. As such, I felt I was having a tasty Chinese meal instead.
