Celebrating Lunar New Year 2017 With 10 At Claymore – Pan Pacific Orchard, Singapore (Closed)

With Lunar New Year round the corner, hotels and restaurants are offering specially curated menu. Celebrating Lunar New Year 2017 With 10 At Claymore with their special New Year buffet spread is another option to consider.

I like the ambience at the restaurant, as it does not offer too much seats as such when was at its full capacity, I don’t find it extremely noisy.

Beginning the celebration meal with Yu Sheng is always a must during the Chinese New Year period. Celebrating Lunar New Year 2017 with 10 at claymore with Salmon Yu Sheng. The plum sauce is light and sourish as such it is great for diners with light palate.

Next move on to the Five varieties of freshly shucked oysters for the oysters lovers. Present during our visit were France, USA, Canada, Ireland and Australia. Be sure to try all the varieties and find the one you like best. For me, I like the Australian ones best. But strangely, the oysters are very salty.

Next warm up with the Superior Fish Maw soup. And perhaps I am not a soup person, as such it didn’t appeal to me.

Interestingly, I spotted brown rice in the Eight Treasure Lotus Leaf Rice. Personally, I thought it was a great having this healthy version since it is even more important to eat healthy due festive season. As for the taste, it was pretty acceptable, though I must admit that it won’t be as fragrance as the Jasmine white rice.

Yhe most auspicious dish at the spread has to be the Fatt Choy with Sea Cucumber. Generous amount of sea cucumber, dried oyster and abalone were in there.

Roast Meat is another favourite dish at Chinese New Year spread. At 10 At Claymore, they offered the Char Siew, Roast Pork Belly and Soy Sauce Chicken. Roast Pork Belly was the best among the choices with good ratio of fats to meat while Char Siew was a tad too dry.

Lastly, fish as an option is available too. Likewise a healthier version, Steamed Fish Slices. Light with natural fish flavour with soy sauce to enhance the taste.

NAHMJ Verdict

Generally, we find the offerings at 10 At Claymore light with flavours underwhelmed which is fit the light palate diners better. This could be contributed mainly due to the healthier style of cooking and ingredients used.
