I have introduced Ola Beach Club which is situated along Siloso Beach at Sentosa previously. Ola Beach Club is a Hawaiian-theme lifestyle club. As such they offer water sport, pool, food and drinks. Hence guests could have a taste of Hawaiian at Ola Beach Club.
In case, you are wondering what’s Ola means; it means life in Hawaiian.
A Taste Of Hawaiian At Ola Beach Club
Most of us aren’t familiar with Hawaiian cuisine. Hence it is timely to introduce Ola Beach Club which offers a slice of Hawaiian to Singapore. We were informed that Hawaiian cuisines have influences from Korean and Japanese too as such expect Kimichi and Sashimi in the dishes.
Starters – Cold
Lormi Lomi Salmon ($16) is a great finger-food. I like the bite size since it fit into one mouth for me. The crispy sesame waffle paired well with the salmon flake. There is an option for topping with caviar at an additional $4.
With the increasing number of Poke Bowl cafe, such as Aloha Poke, and A Poke Theory, by now, most of us are well versed with the Poke Bowl; both healthy and taste fabulous. At Ola Beach Club, the Ahi Poke ($20) is likewise very customised. Diners could choose their base (Jasmine Rice, Brown Rice or Salad), Ahi Poke (Kimichi, Shoyu, Togarashi) and 2 sides (Ebiko, Pineapple, Guacamole, Kimichi, Pumpkin Seeds and Cranberry).
Saimin Salad ($16) with somen noodles, spam, omelette, crispy fish cake and lettuce with a soy like sauce is refreshing. If diners find it too plain, could choose pan-seared scallops (add $5), Lomi Lomi Salmon (add $7) or Ahi Poke (add $7) to accompanied the salad.
Starters – Hot
My favourite dish among the list of food we tried at Ola Beach Club is the Kalua Pig Taco ($25) since it with such a complex but harmonizing flavours. Personally, I like slabbing my taco with lots of sour cream.
Grilled Octopus ($18.50) with globe artichoke, fava beans and tomato confit and olive emulsion was light and yet emitting all the natural seafood sweetness.
Mains
Huli-Huli Chicken ($26) isn’t a dish for me as it uses breast meat with teriyaki sauce. In addition, I find the flavour too flat. The chicken is sat on vegetable puree as such it may differ from time to time. We got our on Potato puree. Other side on the dish includes burnt leeks.
Traditionally, Loco Moco consists of white rice, hamburger patty and eggs with brown gravy. A simple delight as good as a staple. At Ola Beach Club, they prepared the Loco Moco ($28) with a variation by using Kombu Rice and Panko Egg. Even the beef patty is upgraded to using Wagyu beef instead. For a more luxurious factor, add $6 for pan-seared foie gras.
Dessert
Lastly, dessert time. The Haupia Sphere ($22) was served.
Hidden within the hallow sphere are coconut chantilly, coconut sphere, nata de coco and vanilla ice cream. These treasures are exposed after pouring the hot chocolate over the sphere.
Drinks
Cocktails and Mocktails are not lacking on the menu too. Some signature at Ola Beach Club are the Hala Lei ($18), Uliuli Tiki ($22) and many more.
NAHMJ Verdict
Chillax and enjoy a taste of Hawaiian at Ola Beach Club with watersport and subsequently over a meal and drink with friends is a great way to spend the weekend or whenever time permits.
