The Carvery Celebrates Chinese New Year 2017 – Queenstown, Singapore (Ended)

After the impressive Christmas buffet at The Carvery, now The Carvery celebrates Chinese New Year 2017 with a bang. They have infused chinese elements by infusing the flavours into the Western dishes offered as part of their spread.

For those who has been to The Carvery or read about my Christmas post knows that Carvery in essence is a buffet featuring roasts with complementing sides and desserts. It is a very unique buffet concept. What I really enjoy about this buffet is the quality and consistent standard of every dishes at the table.

At all Chinese New Year, Yusheng is always the star. The Carvery celebrates Chinese New Year 2017 with the Golden Eight Treasures Yusheng ($38.80). The rich and thick plum sauce coated each and every shredded vegetables. It has a good sourish punch which I love. The uniqueness of this Yusheng is in the deep fried ginger which gave a nice fragrance and crispiness. Instead of using salmon, they added cured Trout.

At The Buffet Table

At the Carvery, roasts are offered as the Mains with accompanying sides and in particular triffle to complete the meal.

Roasts

Honey-roasted leg of lamb is one of the roast specially created for Chinese New Year. This slow roast leg of lamb with bone was marinated with rosemary and garlic and glazed with honey mustard.

The Carvery Celebrates Chinese New Year 2017 - Crispy pork belly

Crispy pork belly is a typical Cantonese Roast. The Apricot ginger sauce was curated for this dish.

Sides

One of the enticing sides at The Carvery was the flavourful melt-in-the-mouth Braised beef brisket.

For seafood lover, Flower crab stew is available as an option. Go for the soup in the stew and it is the essence of the dish.

The Carvery Celebrates Chinese New Year 2017 - Roasted duck breast with yam croquette

Roasted duck breast with yam croquette will also be available.

Desserts

One of the highlight at The Carvery is triffle. Never missed out on these pretty looking layered dessert. For Chinese New Year, on the table will be the Yuzu triffle. Beware of the sourish Yuzu flavour that will start lingering in your mouth. It is this that attracted me to this dessert.

The Carvery Celebrates Chinese New Year 2017 - Persimmon compote

Next is the Persimmon compote which personally I find it pale in comparison to the Yuzu Triffle. Perhaps it was the latter that was too outstanding. Furthermore, I don’t enjoy persimmon.
