The cosy italian restaurant, Acqua e Farina existed at The Rail Mall for almost a decade. It was previously branded as Galbiati Gourmet Deli. In case, you are looking for it using its original name and couldn’t find.
When we entered, we felt the warmth perhaps contributed by the red brick walls and the warm lighting, even though no service crew step forward to welcome us after a few good minutes.
The usual spread of Italian starters were found on Acqua e Farina menu. A common crowd pleaser was the Calamari Fritti ($22). The uniqueness was the sauce by the side.
Among the starters, Saute di Vongole ($22) is the only Chef’s Recommendation. Hence, we can’t help but order it. Added no heavy seasoning, instead with only white wine and garlic to flavour up the dish. The essence is in the gravy.
Simple Insalata Mista ($14) with balsamic vinegar dressing and shaved parmesan cheese adding seasoning to it.
8 pasta items are offered at this humble restaurant. Fettuccine Nere alla Polpa di Granchio ($23) is one of the 3 Chef’s Recommendation. Great for seafood cum tomato based lovers. Though I love most of the ingredients, I avoid the latter, as such I couldn’t appreciate the dish fully.
Both red and white pizza plus the calzone are offered. We opted for the truffled flavoured white Pizza Speciale ($24). OMG! Loving it.
Rounding the meal with dessert is always inevitable. Piatto di Dolci ($14) is the best choice as diners could savour most of the desserts offered on a platter. We love every one of them.
The second dessert we ordered was a monthly special, the Apple Basket. Equally delish. Perfect if the apple retains the crunch.
NAHMJ Verdict
Dishes at Acqua e Farina has a homely feel. We felt like we are dinning in a home of an Italian and we like it.
