Chef's Hat At Hougang Green Singapore - Feasting at Chef's Hat

Chef’s Hat At Hougang Green – Hougang, Singapore

Hougang Green may be unfamiliar to many especially for those who are not staying in the area. Interestingly, previously, we have a post on a very delicious waffle with extremely friendly owner at Nit and Grit and now Chef’s Hat, whereby both chose this quaint little neighbourhood.

Chef’s Hats existed in the premise for a while. Helmed by Chef Bernard who is armed with 16 years of culinary experience in The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore and Marina Bay Sands Singapore.

Interior is simple with casual ambience. On a wall, there are some painting which somehow make me feel like I am in a kindergarten. Well … not a bad thing. With such a decor, it is appealing to family with kids. And very much indeed, as they have quite a number of baby seats.

Often appetisers are placed, at Chef’s Hat, salad, soup and finger snacks are available. As there is a special for that day, we decided to go with the Baked Escargots with garlic and parsley butter in mornay sauce. Overall taste profile was slanted towards the sweet spectrum.

Rich, creamy and cheesy Bacon, Ham & Mushroom in Cabonara Sauce ($13.90) is either a hit with those who love the flavour or a miss for those who don’t. The taste is dominated by cheese scent.

Chef's Hat At Hougang Green Singapore - Foie Gras Risotto

Foie Gras Risotto is the other special available during our visit. Personally, I felt the taste was flat with only creaminess texture and savoury flavour.

Grilled Pork Chop ($16.90) is the signature item at Chef’s Hat. We love the marinate on the pork. One of the more flavourful pork chop that I tried.

Chef's Hat At Hougang Green Singapore - Black Angus Premium Rib-eye, 220g ($29.90)

If beef is your fave meat, choose the Black Angus Premium Rib-eye, 220g ($29.90). Alternatively, go for the 100% Homemade Beef Burger ($13.90) which has bacon and egg as well.

Desserts choices isn’t fantastics, but we are glad to spot Chocolate Lava Cake with ice-cream ($10.90) on the menu. Chocolaty enough and yet not cloying sweet. A pity the chocolate lava didn’t flow.

Chef's Hat At Hougang Green Singapore - Belgium Waffle with ice cream ($9.90)

The Belgium Waffle with ice cream ($9.90) is another that arouse our interest. Chef’s Hats version is slightly dense with a little fluffiness and the bonus was the crispy outer.

NAHMJ Verdict

Chef’s Hats offers quality food which are generally rich. You either love it or hate it. We also thought for the price it is value for money.
