Portico Platos is another restaurant under the Portico Group beside Portico Prime which we covered in our earlier post. This restaurant is located under the same roof with Roxy Laksa, at the Timbre+.
Featuring Spanish food over at Portico Platos, hence expect a number of small sharing plates, Tapas and of course the ever popular Paella among diners.
Since this outlet is located within Timbre+, there isn’t designated seats, instead free seating. But diners may prefer seats next to the establishment.
Beginning with the familiar dish, Rockmelon, Jamon Serrano and herb pesto dressing ($10). A commonly seen dish at Spanish and even Italian restaurant.
Deep favourite dish is always pleasing, as such we opted for the Calamari in Szechuan pepper and roasted garlic aioli ($8). We prefer a more intense flavour on the calamari.
Coming up next is a thumb up by every diners at the brunch, Grilled Squid, lime and coriander ($12).
I was expecting the Steam clams in chorizo broth ($10) to be heavy in flavour since chorizo was used. Instead, it was naturally sweet with chorizo saltiness enhances the flavour.
Paella selection is limited only to Signature Seafood Paella ($Single Portion $9 | Glutton Portion for 1 to 2 Pax $16 | Whole Paella Pan for 4 to 5 Pax $50). Rice was generally tasty with generous amount of seafood covered every inch of the surface.
If paella is not of interest, turn to Platos Signature Sandwich with 5 choices of cured ham ($12 – $16).
At every Spanish restaurant, Churruos is always available. At Portico Platos they offer Churros with Chocolate and Honey Kaya Dip ($9). Charcoal White Chocolate was available as Xmas Special. The texture of the churros are generally crispy with extremely light chewiness.
And for the Cold Brew Fan, Portico Platos offers both White and Black Cold Brew Coffee ($5 each) too!
NAHMJ Verdict
We felt that the causal ambience at Portico Platos is great for group gathering with delish small plate for sharing. Furthermore, the value for money Paella Pan is surely another fabulous reason to be there in big group too.
