Fat Prince Café Bar Kebab At Peck Seah Street - Bar Counter

Fat Prince Café Bar Kebab At Peck Seah Street – Tanjong Pagar, Singapore

When I first saw the name Fat Prince, I was clueless of what they are serving. But after googling, I came to realize it is a Turkish restaurant. With a up-coming birthday celebration about to take place, I proposed Fat Prince and one other. To my surprise, the former was chosen. I was thrilled!

This round I made the reservation through OpenTable as Chope my usual turned to reservation system indicated as no availability for the date I chose. A shortcoming when dinning at Fat Prince, at least for dinner, is that each table is strictly to adhere to 2 hours dinning.

Pace was relative slow and more peaceful vibes at Fat Prince when there is still sunlight. A complete change when the moon exchange for its place with the sun; we find it extremely noisy from the chatters and laughters of the guests. It worsen when the shakers on the hands of the mixologists are at work.

The one-page menu at a glance isn’t impressive, making counting the total of 16 items an easy task. 5 Mezze with each priced at $12. Salads at $14 with 4 selection. Most items with 6 choices coming from the Kebabs (Any 2 for $16, 3 for $24) . Lastly, an extremely disappointing number, standing at 1 count for the Dessert ($12).

Fat Prince Café Bar Kebab At Peck Seah Street - Truffled Baba Ghanouj ($12)

Starting with Mezze. The Fat Prince Hummus ($12) is with sinfully good Duck Fat. while Truffled Baba Ghanouj ($12) per the name we know it is something we are going to enjoy. And absolutely it was, the truffle was strong. Some may lament that the flavour is flat with only truffle taste, but we didn’t mind this to be the case. 2 types of bread accompanied the dips; the plain pita bread and ultra crispy bread with spiced and salt. We enjoyed both.

Fat Prince Café Bar Kebab At Peck Seah Street - Harra Potatoes ($12)

Harra Potatoes ($12) was deep fried to achieve an ultra crispy exterior hence some may perceived them to be dry. The surface was heavily coated with Arabic Dry Spiced which most of us enjoyed.

Skipping the salad with a carnivore group and dive directly to Kebabs (Any 2 for $16, 3 for $24).

We tried all six and found our fave; Halloumi Cheese and Spicy Adalar Prawns. As the rest, tasted rather similar, especially the Sweet Chili & Oregano Lamb Kofte, Duck & Pistachio Kofte and Spicy Beef Adana. Lastly was the Baharat Honey Chicken which we were neutral about it.

Chopped garlic was among the condiments offered.

Completing the meal with the only available dessert, Halva Pudding ($12). I thought it looks like a breakfast food, the granola bowl or the similar. This pudding consist of Pistachio Streusel, Orange, Mint and Lemon Balm. Overall taste profile was pretty sweet. When it was eaten with the Mint leave, it enhances the taste experience. We would love it if it could be less sweet.

Lastly, try the Traditional Turkish Coffee ($6) too.

Oh ya, in case you didn’t know, there is a secret dinning room, The Ottoman Room serving a different menu within the ground.

NAHMJ Verdict

Fat Prince is one with hate and love factor. We like some of the food but hate the noisy vibes. We love the decor but hate the idea of having only 1 dessert choice. Lastly, we didn’t like the restriction of 2 hours dinning.
