STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar is offering Christmas buffet and festive signature dishes this holiday season from 23 to 26 December 2016 and 30 December 2016 to 2 January 2017.
The theme of this year-end festivite is about adding an Asian twist to Intalian-American inspired dishes. The main highlight “Feast of the Seven Fishes” is part of Intalian-American traditional Christmas eve celebration. The dishes include Cajun Prawns, Stuffed Squid with Chinese Glutinous Rice, Scallops Mornay – Creamy Gratin, Mussels in Garlic Butter, Ikan Cincaru Sumbat Sambal, Sea Salt Baked Grouper Fillet and Masala Slipper Lobster.
‘Feast of the Seven Fishes” is served with dips and accompaniments like Tabasco, Mustard, Sambal, Barbecue Sauce, Cocktail Sauce, Thai Nam Jim and lemon wedges. I find the Sea Salt Baked Grouper Fillet slightly firm in texture and thought it should go well with a piece of bread or white rice. I do like the stuffed Squid with Chinese Glutinous Rice though. The cute bite size dish brings out the freshness of squid and the flavourful glutinous rice.
The other side of the buffet tray is named “Cravings for Carvings”. It embodies the Asian tastes with the likes of Tandoori Turkey Breast as well as Balinese Roast Beef Striploin and Asians’ favorite Honey Baked Chicken Ham, perfectly served with dips and accompaniments like Wholegrain Mustard, Chef’s Brown Sauce as well as Cucumber and Onion Raita. If you are not a big meat eater like me, you may still wanna give Balinese Roast Beef a try. I like how the beef is coated with various chunks of species and baked to pinkish from the inside.
Pasta Fiesta, Seafood Ice Bar, Appetizer Appeal, Soup Cauldron Entree Festive and Bread Basket are among the buffet trays. I particularly like the Oyster Shooter. The fresh oyster was placed on top of chunked tomatoes and accompanied by citrus refreshing and spicy sauce.
No feast should end without a dessert. Street 50 is featuring “Chendol Christmas Eggnog” as their festival dessert this year. The chendol ingredients in the ‘milk punch’ blends harmoniously with the Coconut Malibu Rum to give it a frothy rich texture. The drink doesn’t just look beautiful and it also has rich flavours that makes you want to get a second cup.
