Kosnica Ice Cream Cafe At Duxton Road In Tanjong Pagar, Singapore - Ice Cream Counter

Kosnica Ice Cream Cafe At Duxton Road – Tanjong Pagar, Singapore (Closed)

Amidst the sea of cafe in Tanjong Pagar area, Kosnica is brave to venture into the area with an ice cream cafe. Before their entry, there are at least 3 other ice cream cafes in the vicinity. I can think of right off my mind; Churn Creamery, 5 The Moments and Apairy. Oh ya, by the way, they branded themselves as gelato specifically and not ice cream.

Though I passed by the stretch relatively often, I can’t recall who occupied this particular unit.

When we entered, we were mesmerized by the wall picture of birds and cages and flower and some pattern. Mainly in black and white, contrast by the wooden furniture and wooden hexagons on the wall. In short, space was sleek and clean. Overall, there are some attractive points.

Kosnica offered slightly more than a dozen choice of flavours, with a mix of fruity flavours too. Flavours are mainly the crowd pleasers and crowd favourites such as Matcha, Salted Caramel, Cookies and Cream, Durian, Mango Sorbet. Perhaps the most unique flavour was the Earl Grey & Fig. Being an gelato cafe, waffle is never lacking with choices of Buttermilk, Red Velvet and Matcha with Single scoop gelato ($11) and double scoop ($15.50).

Beside these staple of an ice cream parlour, there are Kosnica Lava Cakes with Single scoop gelato ($12) and double scoop ($16.50).

Matcha Waffle with Double Scoop ($15.50) was our order. Personally, we felt the pinch. The waffle belongs the the dense category though with ultra crispy exterior. But the density was far over till it was too doughy. Furthermore, matcha flavour was extremely weak. This is the same comment made even by a light palate diner. Matcha flavour is easily masked by the ice cream flavour.

I was not impressed with the ice cream too. I somehow tasted artificial colouring and flavouring in them. The texture was kinda strange too.

NAHMJ Verdict

In a nut shell, the Kosnica waffle was overpriced. We were never concern about paying for more but we are displeased when we have to pay for something pricey and yet under par.
