7-Eleven Singapore Fresh Chilled Ready-To-Eat Meals (RTE) is launched under its 7-Select private brand. With over 6 months of research and painstaking taste-test, the RTE range is finally ready to take flight.
The convenience store will be phasing out its Frozen and Thaw series and replaced by the RTE meals.
7-Eleven Singapore Fresh Chilled Ready-To-Eat Meals
7-Eleven has lined up 40 new RTE products to roll out till the end of 2017 with local range and Japanese series for selection.
Local Range of RTE
For a start, under the local range of 7-Eleven Singapore Fresh Chilled Ready-To-Eat Meals, expected to find some iconic and yet popular local dishes such as Braised Duck Rice ($4.90). The entire meal include also the braised egg, peanut and well beloved chilli to go along with the duck rice.
Butter Chicken Biryani ($3.90) is one of the favourite RTE. Though the Basmati rice does not have strong enough herb and spice fragrance, however, the curry was delish to supplement the weakness. At $3.90 with such a taste, I would rate it as good.
Surprisingly, the Fried Carrot Cake ($2.90) was one of the more outstanding RTE meal among the selection. It was almost as good as those dish out from the freshly fried pan of hawker centre.
And not forgetting the Hainaese Chicken Rice ($3.50) with the chicken rice chilli and black sauce too. Sesame oil is also provided to drizzle over the rice like those served in the stall.
The local range of RTE are all halal certified.
Japanese Food Option
Beside the Local Range RTE meal, 7-Eleven took help from a Japanese chef to create authentic Japanese flavour in each pack of RTE meal.
One of the key highlight the Spaghetti Al Funghi with Mentaiko ($5.80). We thought there is room for improvement in the flavour. Other pasta dishes available are the Spaghetti Neapolitan ($5.80) and Vegetarian Spaghetti ($5.80).
An easy to eat Japanese style option is the Onigiris ($2) with filling such as grilled salmon and chicken teriyaki. Onigiris are Japanese rice triangles filled with fish or meat.
One good buy at the chiller section which I would certainly turn to frequently is the Hanjuku Egg. OMG! This is so good as the yolk is runny.
Dessert
With all meals, dessert is inevitable to complete the meal. Currently, though only the Chocolate Lava Cake ($2.80) is available, this is an outstanding choice. After warming it up for 20 to 25 seconds in the mircowave, cut it and the chocolate lava flows.
It is with chocolaty spongy cake. Comparable to those sold in some reputable cafe. And this cake is also halal certified.
NAHMJ Verdict
At such an affordable, extremely wallet friendly prices, the 7-Eleven Singapore Fresh Chilled Ready-To-Eat Meals is certainly a great way for busy Singaporean to satiate their stomach.
