Bicky & Brew At Club Street – Telok Ayer, Singapore

I watched the transformation of 31 Club Street from One 28 looking like a Marina to the typical hipster vibes of Stamping Ground Coffee to the now flamingos filled Bicky & Brew. None of the past cafe lasted longer than a year, as far as I can remember. Hopefully Bicky & Brew is here to stay.

From the name Bicky & Brew, I know Brew is for coffee while I wasn’t sure what Bicky is. As such I asked the owner. She said Bicky is Australian slang for cookies. The new owner of this space is from Sydney, Australia who has been in Singapore for about 3 years.

And I understand that all bakes are made in-house fresh and daily. Other food includes the Chia Seed Pudding and Bircher Muesli. I tried none of the bake on my first visit but I keen to return to try them.

Surprisingly, the owner prefers chocolaty and nutty flavour note coffee, similar to the Asian palate. I thought it was unusual. As such she turned to Batavia blend from Dutch Colony. I won’t complain since I prefer to the same category and I also don’t mind Dutch Colony beans.

NAHMJ Verdict

Small as it is, like the previous cafes, Bicky & Brew offers only simple coffee and bakes. Nonetheless, this humble satisfies the crowd who are mainly the office workers the need of the daily cup of joe.
