Osia Steak and Seafood Grill located at the Festive Street of Resort World Sentosa was awarded one Michelin Star in 2016. This is not the only Michelin Star restaurant in RWS. The one and only 3 star Joël Robuchon Restaurant is also found in RWS. Next the 2 Michelin-Star restaurants are Forest and L’Atelier De Joel Robuchon. As such, a total of 4 Michelin Star restaurants are in RWS. Looks like they are the largest winner.
Featuring Australian fare using freshest ingredients is the highlight of Osia Steak and Seafood Grill.
Interior of Osia Steak and Seafood Grill is contemporary. The restaurant look sleek with comfy cushioned armchair. It has an open kitchen allowing diners to admire the chefs at work.
We visited Osia Steak and Seafood Grill for lunch on a weekday of September. At lunch, choice of either 2-course ($35++) or 3-course ($45++) with 4 appetisers and 4 mains for selection.
The Stone Hearth Flat Bread ($11) is one of the signature dish at Osia as such we do not want to miss it. 6 toppings were available with Truffled Kalamata Olive and Macadamia Pesto as signature. We chose the latter. The remaining toppings were Curry Coconut, Garlic Butter, Dukkah and Onion Sour Cream. For the second selection, we went for something safe, Garlic Butter. Among the 2 we tried, we preferred the latter. Spread and dips of butter, olive oil and a special sauce of the day, Garlic Feta are by the side when served.
Appetizer
There was a Broccoli soup as a selection in the Appetizer. Since we aren’t broccoli fan, we skipped this selection totally. Next was a tempting choice, Beef Tenderloin but we didn’t choose this since we are going for beef in the Mains.
Finally, our choice were the Foie Gras (supplement $12) and the Hiramasa Kingfish. We enjoyed the Foie Gras with Pineapple Textures and Madagascar Vanilla. Personally, I felt this is one of the better pairing with Foie Gras.
Interesting, the Hiramasha Kingfish is also accompanied with pineapple. In addition, it has coconut lime cured too. The raw fish slices were light in flavour, pineapple supplemented the taste. Overall, it was decent.
Main
Salmon Trout was available but since neither me or my dinning partner enjoyed the strong pungent fishy salmon taste, we didn’t want to risk it. We aren’t keen in pasta too, therefore Smoked Pancetta weren’t our choice too. We are keen on the Beef, naturally our choice is the Beef Hanging Tender. Left with the forth item, Lamb Shoulder, I went with this.
Beef Hanging Tender grilled to medium doneness served in a rich savoury sauce that we relished on. Together with Shimeiji Mushroom, Wilted Spinach and silky Potato Puree were on the plate. Generally the beef was tender; a pity the slices at the end were tough.
It is pleasing to see how they serve the Lamb Shoulder. Dishing from the mini casserole where the dish originally was to the Soup Bowl. Leaving the rest untouch to keep warm.
Tender, Flavourful Lamb that almost melt in the mouth. But we are sure it isn’t for everyone as it was gamey. Luckily, we find it acceptable.
Dessert
Our last course, the Valrhona Hot Chocolate Soup served with Black Peppered Ice Cream. We didn’t expect it was actually Molten Chocolate Lava Cake. We were expecting something unusual from the name.
Coffee or Tea
The set meal was inclusive of coffee or tea. We were glad that they offered coffee espresso based coffee variation instead of brewed coffee alone. A pity Mocha is an ala carte order which we didn’t appreciate.
Overall, our Cappuccino was decent.
Lastly, we thought the Ginger Beer is worth a mention as it is a homemade one.
NAHMJ Verdict
In general, we value the food served at Osia Steak and Seafoodd Grill though there wasn’t any Wow moment. Furthermore, we are expecting more from Osia, especially in terms of service since they received one Michelin star. In particular, they should be more attentive so that we need not wave violently and yet no service crew took notice of our need.
