O Bahn Mi Vietnamese Cafe at Tiong Bahru Plaza, Singapore - Facade

O Banh Mi Vietnamese Cafe – Tiong Bahru, Singapore

Little is known about O Banh Mi. All it seems, O Banh Mi is a franchise from Vietnam. I spotted the outlet at Tiong Bahru Plaza after its renovation as they added a section for casual dinning at a corner of level 2. The first I tried was NiceDay Dessert.

As highlighted earlier, the dining vibe at O Banh Mi is casual. Diners will find a table, decide what they want and order it at the counter. When food is ready, it will be served.

Banh Mi is refering to the sandwich which make me feel that this will be their specialty. Besides the 6 Banh Mi, there are 4 Pho, both beef and chicken. Alternatively, go for the Dry Vermicelli or Com Tam (Rice) with selection of pork, beef and chicken .

O Banh Mi Vietnamese Cafe at Tiong Bahru Plaza, Singapore - Pork & Prawn Summer Roll ($5.50)

At O Banh Mi, 4 spring rolls were on the menu. 3 summer rolls, namely, Pork & Prawn Summer Roll ($5.50), Chicken & Prawn Summer Roll ($5.50) and Tofu Summer Roll ($5). And lastly, the Fried Spring Roll ($5).

We tried the Porl & Prawn Summer Roll. The wrap was too chewy for my liking. Somehow, the pork flavour masked the prawn. By the side, there was a sweet sauce with chopped peanut that I enjoyed.

O Banh Mi Vietnamese Cafe at Tiong Bahru Plaza, Singapore - Mixed Chicken Pho Soup ($8.90)

I hardly go for Chicken Pho and for once I tried the Mixed Chicken Pho Soup ($8.90). It was so light and plain that I thought it fit for the diet of the sick. This is certainly not for me.

O Banh Mi Vietnamese Cafe at Tiong Bahru Plaza, Singapore - Grilled Chicken Vermicelli & Spring Roll ($9.90)

Grilled Chicken Vermicelli & Spring Roll ($9.90) was the Dry Vermicelli we tried too. As always I enjoyed contributed mainly due to the sweet and sour sauce. But it was a shame that the chicken was too salty.

O Banh Mi Vietnamese Cafe at Tiong Bahru Plaza, Singapore - Lemongrass Ginger Tea ($3.50)

I was keen on the Lemongrass Ginger Tea ($3.50). It has a good balance of both lemongrass and ginger. However, it was a little too sweet even after the ice melted.

NAHMJ Verdict

Based on the food we tried so far, I enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Vermicelli & Spring Roll. Yet to try are the Beef Pho, Com Tam and Banh Mi then.
