Birds Of Paradise Gelato Boutique dwelled in the newly renovated shophouse, named The Red House. But go looking for a red building; it isn’t. The building is in cream colour instead. And it is opposite Roxy Square.
When we spotted the pastel coloured gelato boutique along East Coast Road, we were charmed by the simple and yet elegant design of the shop. At the same time, we were a little disappointed that such a nicely decorated outlet didn’t provide seats. It was mainly for takeaway though you get to hang around the counter or by the large glass panel while you enjoy the gelato.
Like the colour theme of the gelato boutique, the gelato too are light and pastel in shade. At first glance, I found most of the flavour in white. In terms of colours, it was relatively boring. In addition, flavours were limited to 9. My heart sunk.
At a closer look of the description of flavours, we were astonished. We spotted interesting exclusive flavours such as White Chrysanthemum, Basil, Strawberry Basil and Raspberry Lychee.
Menu was straightfoward, choose either single ($4.70) or double scoop ($7.70) in cup or Thyme Cone for an additional $1. If you wish to get more gelato home for sharing, opt for Pint ($16).
We tried a few flavours, all were equally delish. It is very much depended on preference. The flavours and sweetness level are generally light. I went for the Spiced Pear in thyme cone ($5.70)
We also ordered a Mint Cacao and Strawberry Basil ($7.70). The latter is their best seller.
NAHMJ Verdict
Overall, we enjoyed the lightly flavoured gelato at Birds Of Paradise Gelato Boutique. We are looking forward for more unique flavours from them.
