Liberica Coffee At South Quarter is one of the 5 cafe at South Quarter. Others include Mokka, Delico, Tous Les Jours and Starbucks. Liberica Coffee is a chain cafe that started in 2011. It quickly spreads its wing and now can be seen throughout Jakarta including major shopping malls.
The name was taken from a rare coffee beans variant of Liberica beans. They pride themselves on selling 100 % original Indonesia Coffee beans.
Decked in mainly black as such echoing a cool and hip vibes. Unexpectedly, it is a great place for my food photos. As all cafes and restaurants in Jakarta, they too provide smoking area for diners. Luckily, the smoking area is outdoor.
Food oferings is comprehensive at Liberica Coffee. Ranging from Indonesian dishes to Pasta and Sandwiches.
We tried a number of the Indonesian dishes. First, Ayam Penyet Cabe Ijo (IDR 79k) comprises of a huge Chicken Thigh covered with generous amount of blended green chilli. By its side is large amount of fresh vegetable salads. Chicken was crispy on the exterior and succent in the interior. By the way, it can be quite spicy if you can’t hold you spiciness well.
The other dish with the green chilli similiar to the above chicken dish is the Bebek Penyet Cabe Ijo (IDR 101k). Equally good and spicy.
Oxtail (IDR 138k) is available in Soup, Grilled and Fried. We tried the grilled version and we thought well of it.
The only Asian Dish we tried was the Beef Teriyaki (IDR 75k). Sauce though delish, didn’t taste like the authentic Japanese Teriyaki sauce. Instead it tasted like some sweet oyster sauce. Moreover, beef was over-cooked resulting in tough slices of meat.
Since coffee is the soul at Liberica, surely, diner must order this item. Liberica Coffee @ South Quarter offer both the hand brewed and espresso based coffee. Hand brew methods available are V60, Chemex and hand drip.
No surpise, Cappuccino (Rp 30,000), Latte and other usual espresso based coffee can be found on the menu.
And Green Tea Latte Hot (IDR 50k) with latte art too. I marvelled at the bear latte art.
Complimentary Ice Tea served with the Indonesian dishes we ordered. The Ice Tea was lightly fragrance. It tasted fabulous even without sugar.
Liberica Brownies (IDR 51k) is to die-for. It was soft, chocolaty and yet not too cloying sweet. It was worth every single calories.
Raisin Cookies is an option to go along with the cuppa.
NAHMJ Verdict
Surprised to find the food delicious at Liberica Coffee @ South Quarter. The standard was certainly not within our expectation.
