Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha At Bedok Mall - Pho Street at Bedok Mall Overview

Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha At Bedok Mall – Singapore

Pho Street has been around for a few good years but I have never heard about it as they have been establishing themselves in the heartland. They have recently introduced a Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha at all their outlets. I visited the Bedok Mall one.

Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha

Bun Cha, a commonly street food, originated from Hanoi however hardly any Vietanmese restaurant in Singapore serve this popular choice. With Obama creating the sensation, Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha was introduced to meet diners’ demand.

Bun Cha consists of rice vermicelli (Bún) and marinated grilled pork patties and strips of pork belly (Chả). A bowl of specially concocted fish sauce with pickled green papaya and carrot dip is by the side as dip for the vermicelli and meat.

Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha ($10.90) is lightly sourish which is appetising and we are sure it will appeal to the mass. In it, there are lots of greens as such we like to think of it as an healthier choice too. We like especially the grilled meat patty because of its chewy texture and flavourful taste. In a nutshell, we enjoyed Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha.

Other Signature Dishes At Pho Street

Beside Bun Cha, Pho Street serves an array of Vietnamese food. It ranges from Street Snacks to Rice Vermicelli, Fragrant Rice to Banh Mi and not forgetting the ever popular Pho.

Street Snacks

First the street snacks. On the menu are 13 selections. We went for only the signature street snacks.

Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha At Bedok Mall - Vietnamese Snack Platter ($8.90)

First and foremost is the Vietnamese Snack Platter ($8.90) consisting of Cripsy Fried Pork Rolls, Roasted Chicken Skewers and Vietnamese Crabcakes. These are also available as individual dish with first 2 items at $3.50 and the last at $3.90.

Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha At Bedok Mall - Fresh Summer Rolls with Prawn, Pork Belly and Fresh Herbs ($4.90 / 2 pc)

Next is the Fresh Summer Rolls with Prawn, Pork Belly and Fresh Herbs ($4.90 / 2 pc) which is a Singaporean well-beloved dish. We too enjoy this dish as always. It is like a must order dish every time we are at a Vietnamese restaurant.

Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha At Bedok Mall - Crispy Fried Chicken Mid-wings served with Caramelised Sweet Dip ($4.90 / 3 pcs)

Followed by the Crispy Fried Chicken Mid-wings served with Caramelised Sweet Dip ($4.90 / 3 pcs). True to its name. We enjoyed the fried wings more with the dip.

Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha At Bedok Mall - Sesame Rice Crackers with Fragrant Minced Meat and Spices Dip ($6.90)

The last street snack for the evening was the Sesame Rice Crackers with Fragrant Minced Meat and Spices Dip ($6.90). The rice crackers has a chewy texture with slight sesame fragrance while the minced meat is lightly spice. Personally, among the street snacks, this is least preferred.

Mains

Moving on to the Mains, we begin with the Banh Mi. Pho Street provides 3 filling selections. First, they have the Roasted Pork Belly ($6.50). Next is the Chicken Ham ($6.50). Lastly the Grilled Beef ($6.90). Pho Street has also provide an ultimate selection is Banh Mi Combination ($6.90) which comprises of all the above mentioned fillings. And this was our choice.

We enjoyed the soft fluffy baguette that wasn’t too chewy for the jaw. In addition, there are abundant mayonnaise to enhance to flavour. Overall, sandwich was tasty.

At every Vietnamese Restaurant, Pho is on the menu without doubt. Pho Street has provided 6 selections with pre-defined ingredients. They provide either chicken or beef selection. We went after the bowl with utmost ingredients that is the Pho Beef Combination ($9.90). For diners who don’t consume beef, diners could opt for the equivalent with chicken instead, Pho Chicken Combination ($7.90).

In general, we thought there is room for improvement for the soup.

Signature Beverages

Pho Street provides both hot and iced beverages. Among them, 2 of Pho Street signature drinks are Passionfruit and Basil Mojito ($3.50) and Lemon Cooler with Peppermint Basil ($3.50).

Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha At Bedok Mall - Passionfruit and Basil Mojito ($3.50), Lemon Cooler with Peppermint Basil ($3.50)

We prefer the latter to the former as the Lemon Cooler tasted more natural while the Passionfruit using the passionfruit syrup.

There are 2 Vietnamese Desserts on Pho Street menu, Cream of Mung Bean with Coconut Sauce and Crunch Peanuts ($3.50) and Chilled White Fungus Lotus Seeds and Red Dates ($3.50). But we tried none.

NAHMJ Verdict

NAHMJ thought well of Pho Street New Dish Bun Cha. We would have the Bun Cha along with a few street snacks but would avoid the Pho. Alternatively, instead of Bun Cha, we would go for the Banh Mi.
