Pasta Meat Sauce located at East Village, at a corner of the East is lesser known to many, especially those staying in the West. Pasta Meat Sauce is established by folks of Rice & Fries (which I have never been to), in case you are wondering if they have any affiliates.
This outlet is operated mainly as a takeaway mode even though they offer a few tables for dine in. They doesn’t charge any service charge for dine in. Neither GST for both options. At Pasta Meat Sauce, expect to customise your own Pasta.
As such interior is simple with no interior design theme at all. Behind the panel is the tiny kitchen where a Chef stormed up the pasta. The kitchen is hold fort by Chef-Owner Ken Chia, who honed his culinary skills as sous-chef at The Ritz Carlton and The Fullerton, and head-chef at Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Menu is simple. First choose your pasta with option of Angel Hair (add $1), Linguine, Spaghetti and Penne.
Next, decide the sauce with choice of Cream, Chunky Tomato, Spicy Aglio Olio, Tomato Cream (add $1), Thai Tom Yam Cream (add $2) andd lastly Truffle Oil (add $3).
Finally complete with a topping with selection of Mushroom ($8), Mixed Vege ($8), Grilled Chicken ($8), Chicken Ham ($8), Grilled Dory ($8), Smoked Salmon ($10), Prawns ($10), Black Mussels ($10), Mixed Sefood ($10). Lastly, should you need 2 topping that will lessen your wallet by $12.
There is no Pork and Lard used in the food.
Our first selection was the Angel Hair pasta with Truffle Oil and Mushroom for topping ($13). We find the Angel Hair pasta a little too soft to the bites. Truffle scent though enough for the nose but was missing for the tastebud. It was filled with mainly peppery flavour.
Our second pasta bowl was with the popular sauce, highly flavoured by customers at Pasta Meat and Sauce. It is a bowl of Linguine with Thai Tom Yam Cream and 2 toppings of Mixed Seafood and Grilled Chicken ($14). We enjoyed this more than our first option. The pasta was al dente with rich and flavourful plus creamy sauce. The seafood were fresh too.
For other Mains, customer could opt for the Rice Bowl with 5 dishes. We went for the Crab Claw and Lobster Rice Bowl ($19.80). The rice was a little too soft though the sauce was flavourful. There isn’t much ingredient. We felt it was an expensive bowl.
Alternatively, customers could go for some Fish or Meat dishes such as Grilled Dory ($12.80), Fish & Chips ($12.80), Rosemary Chicken ($12.80), Signature Lambshank ($29.80) or even Braised Oxtail ($24.80).
At Pasta Meat And Sauce, a good selection of starters and finger food are also available.
NAHMJ Verdict
Our favourite is pasta with Tom Yam Cream. We would highly recommend this item at Pasta Meat Sauce. Since it is more of a takeaway outlet, so expect to be served in takeaway paper bowl and plastic utensils even for dine in.
